Freezing to death would be much worse than being burned alive.

awesomeface

How? Even people with extreme cases of hypothermia often don't feel a thing, and just seem to fall asleep. Freezing alive would be relatively pain free. Burning alive, on the other hand.. that would be awful. Sure it'd be quicker, but you sure as hell wouldn't fall asleep.

There's also a torture method that has someone sit atop a wooden triangular prism. Weights are then applied to each leg until the person is torn in half. Not a good way to go..

It was probably a knee-jerk reaction on this part. He wanted to be the cool guy who throws a party for his friends, and his parents wouldn't let him.

He got really angry, and hence, murdered his parents. He's not insane. Anyone motivated by enough anger and lacking enough self-control could do something like this.He probably regrets it now.

Case closed.

They are often depictions of real stories, yet they are exaggerated for TV of course.

Like anything on television, there is a certain 'spin' put on the truth to make it more appealing. But yes they are based off of real stories of how people have passed.

Agree. Burning = no bueno.

Why is it 2nd degree? Did they determine that he just got mad because they said no? To me if you're going to continue to have a party, you don't feel guilty as is the case with murder of passion (In the moment - 2nd degree). He obviously knew he was going to do it and that's why he continued to have the party. He pre-meditated that sh**. No one acts in the moment and then decides, "hey I think I'll go ahead and have a party." He deserves death penalty or locked up for life in some 8x8 hole that he can never leave even once. Sick bas****.

That's scary, compared to how I was raised, a lot of kids these days need to be slapped...like really hard. They don't think properly, they're very judgemental, and very selfish. I obey and respect my mom with all my heart because she takes care of me. They shouldn't be taking everything for granted and think they could do whatever they want...Hope he gets a serious punishment for killing his parents so coldly. :(

If it was premeditated, then he probably wouldn't have even sent out the invitations until after he'd gotten rid of the bodies.

Again, the timing itself indicates that the murders probably weren't planned.

No one knows why the kid committed the murders.

No one knows if the murders and the party were in any way connected.

Yeah, but you're talking as if the party matters one freaking bit. Your comment makes it sound like he killed his parents because he wanted to have a party.

Again, think about every time you've read a headline saying something like "Teen plays violent videogame, then murders father". With a headline and opening paragraphs that make it out as if the kid killed his own dad over Grand Theft Auto 4 or something. Then you see buried way down in the bottom of the article that no one knows why the kid killed his parents and that there's no indication that it had anything to do with the videogame.

This is almost exactly the same. They're trying to make the story seem sensational, because that gets a lot more peoples' attention than a headline like "Kid murders parents for some reason, no one knows why."

1st degree murder is where a person plans it out beforehand. Obviously that isn't the case here as nothing about it speaks to any kind of planning, thought, or intelligence being put into the actions.

[QUOTE="Aquat1cF1sh"]My name is Tyler. But wow... So he killed them because they wouldn't let him have a party? MrGeezer

Maybe. But if that's the case, you certainly weren't to get that from the original post or from the article which the topic creator has provided a link to.

The only thing we're seeing here is a sequence of events. As in, "teen hosts party, murders parents, then continues with the party." That's fundamentally no different than "teen plays Grand Theft Auto 4, murders parents, then continues playing Grand Theft Auto 4".

But notice that if you actually click on the link and then scroll WAY down to the bottom of the article, you'll see this..."Nichols said police do not know why the teen, who has made "no incriminating statements," may have killed his parents.". Notice how the headline and the opening paragraphs give you the impression that the kid killed his parents in order to have a party. But then if you scroll way down to the end of the article, it's explicitly stated that no one knows why the kid killed his parents.

I don't think it matters. Throwing a party after killing your parents is really messed up, that's all I needed to get from that.

The stories are made up or modified, but the science behind how and why they died is generally god, as far as I can tell.

I don't think it matters. Throwing a party after killing your parents is really messed up, that's all I needed to get from that. hensothor

The reason why is because throwing a party is seen as "normal" behavior. As in, "this person recently killed his parents, and now he's acting like normal. He MUST be messed up in the head!"

The problem is that unless the kid immediately collapses into a crying heap and remains that way until his arrest, you could equally well say the same thing about ANYTHING that the kid does at any point after the murders.

Is he playing videogames 16 hours later when the cops bust down the door? "He's acting normal! He MUST not have any remorse!"

Watching the news? "He's a monster!"

Going to the grocery store to pick up a loaf of bread? "Monster."

Replying to his voicemails? "Monster."

Bothering to show up at work/school? "Monster."
