Of course going from a free flowing chemoorganotroph to a complete ice cube in a short time will suck. I was thinking along the lines of people that go mountain climbing, suffer hypothermia on the summit, and fall asleep and die.

People have been brought back from the brink of death don't recall feeling anything other than being tired, and often don't even realize certain body parts are rock solid and completely dark in color.

If we're talking about being locked in a freezer though, yes, that would suck. :P

Granted, he probably could have found a smarter way of unsuspiciously cancelling the party, but cut him some slack. He just murdered his parents, so maybe he wasn't thinking straight. In any case, I think it's pretty clear that he didn't FORGET about murdering his parents, seeing as how he tried to hide his parents' bodies and tried to act normal.

I'm not saying "cut him some slack" for having murdered his parents. I'm just saying that if YOU had just murdered your own parents, I wager that you would probably do a bad job covering up the evidence too.

If you want to paint this kid as EVIL because he murdered his own parents, then go right ahead. I have no disagreement with that. I just take objection to the attempts to make this kid out as being STUPID. I mean...WHO really thinks rationally after murdering their own parents? If he'd murdered his parents and then been able to think rationally enough to think of a GOOD way to hide the murders, then I think that'd be even WORSE. That'd look like someone who murdered his own parents and then managed to be cool enough about the whole thing to actually get away with it. Whereas this looks like a kid who murdered his parents, panicked, and then did a piss-poor job of hiding the murders because he naturally wasn't thinking quite straight at that point.

Invitations were given at 1:30 PM. The party started at 9 PM.

Meanwhile, the parents were killed "sometime after the invitations were sent, and sometime before the party started." Best case scenario, they were murdered an hour before the party started. Worst case scenario, they were murdered right after the invitations were sent, at about 1:45 PM. In either case, that isn't nearly long enough for the corpses to start to stink, particularly when the dead bodies were entirely located in a home which was likely air-conditioned and reasonably weather-sealed. Even lying out in the open in the summer heat in freaking Florida, it takes a lot longer than that for a dead body to start stinking.

Oh, that totally makes everything Okay.

People are ignoring that this story was deliberately written in order to evoke a certain reaction, and most of the people here are buying right into it. Like I said before, if it had been videogames instead of partying, the people here would be acting a whole lot differently.
