The reviews on IMDB are relatively decent. It may not be an amazing film, but the public seems to think that it's a good summer action flick.

Public opinion > critics.

I'm not terribly surprised. The series has been running out of steam ever since the second movie. Third one was okay, but you KNEW it had to reach "Godfather Part 3" or "Rocky V/Rocky Balboa" territory at some point.

I wouldn't pass judgment on the film just yet. There's barely one page of reviews from critics, so the overall score could change quite drastically once they're all accounted for. Right now it only says 5 out of 20 critics thought the film was "fresh", and that's a really small sample size lol. Either way, I'm still pretty damn excited to watch it this weekend.

I was not looking forward to the movie to begin with, and this only reinforces that.

Personally, I just plan on watching Star Trek this weekend.

I know we are talking about opinion here, which is, after all, subjective matter, but I cannot believe you jut put Rocky Balboa in the same vain as Rocky V.

The movie has not even been commercially released yet, so I would too much weight into that IMDB rating.

I'm not putting weight into the rating, I'm putting weight into the written pre-screening reviews.

Oh boy, one extra positive review bumped up the score to 29% lol. Too many people here are only looking at the percentage and not taking the sample size into account.

Not suprised after the abysmal third film.

And, honestly, I've heard people raving on about how good it will be because the oh-so-wonderful Christian Bale is in it. Christian Bale is far from a good actor imo. He was good in American Psycho and The Machinist. Every other role of his has been poor. He isn't even a good Batman. The supporting actors are generally what make the Batman movies good. (Cillian Murphy and Liam Neeson in Begins, Aaron Eckhart and Heath Ledger in TDK) /Christian Bale rant

I'll watch it when it comes on HBO for free. Maybe.

That sucks, I have T1 2 and 3, 3 sucked so bad. 1 and 2 rocked mainly because of the awesome action and ultra violence, Terminator series in my opinion is one that needs to have violence.

Can't say as I have. I'll look into getting a hold of a copy. It looks interesting. After crap like Equilibrium and 3:10 To Yuma, I don't know if he can be redeemed.

Rotten Tomatoes scores:

T1: 100% (Great movie)

T2: 97% (One of my all time favourites)

T3: 70% (I thought this was marginal overall, horrible for a Terminator movie)

T4: 29% (ugh)

One could argue that technically Terminator ended with the first film because the fact that a terminator was sent back in the first place signified that it was going to happen no matter what. They just decided to draw it out for a few more films and give us false hope, but no it was always going to happen otherwise the terminator would have never have existed and never have come back.

As if I have ever given a rat's as* as to what Rotten Tomatoes thinks? Or Roger Ebert? I hate crititics.

I liked T3. It was not super great but it was not garbage either. I will most likely enjoy T4 too. They also bagged The Chronicles of Riddick too which I thought kicked as*. Screw Rotten Tomatoes and the stuck up horse that they rode in on.

All the people who think T4 sucks just because some citics told them it does are damned sheep. See it for yourselves you sheep then decide. Forget the critics. How many times have the crititcs bagged a game only to have the people love said game? Too many times.

Really? You sound like one of the sheep.

As I see it there are many levels to good and bad movies. Was T3 as bad as a Uwe Boll movie? Certainly not as Boll movies are the ultimate in bad. T3 was not even close to a Uew Boll movie. Was T3 as good as T2? No, it was not. But just because it was not as good as T2 does not make it crap.

But then again thinking on this level most likely hurts the brains of sheep.....

It's 40% right now.

There's only 25 reviews posted and most of the Top Critics haven't even posted yet.

Need to wait till the the weekend for more reviews to come in before you can get a decent rating for the movie.

You're saying a film has to be bad if it's at the quality of a Uwe Boll film?

:|

I'm not that much of an admirer for Terminator 2 like most are, but it's pretty obvious that Terminator 3 was a poorly made film, even on its own legs.

T3 was not much above Uwe Bolls level, no. It was abysmal and should not exist. You don't have to be a sheep to have discerning taste in movies.

I'll wait and see what everybody else apart from critics say. I don't understand the hate for T3; sure, it wasn't the best Terminator flick, but it could have been much worse. I guess its a fad to hate T3 for some reason.

T3 wasn't bad - it was just boring.

The interesting stuff didn't happen till the end of the movie and by then we all knew where it was going anyway.

Everything else was just the usual "run away from the high-tech terminator with assistance from the low-tech Governator", and throw in a couple dumb one-liners for giggles.

Clair Danes is easy on the eyes though :)

Well, people are very picky abotu their favorite franchises.

Alien, Predator, Terminator, Transformers...

When someone makes a movie about them - fans demand them to be top-notch and not flashy effects and a dumb story for pubescent teens (Fantastic 4 anyone?)

I expect some SERIOUS hate for the GI Joe movie if it's as bad as it looks. Not sure who's making it - but a lot of peoplelike old-school GI Joe and anytime a Wayans brother is involved, it's bound to suck.

He's also got such esteemed titles as "Cypress Hill: Still Smokin" and "Korn: Who Then Now?" under his belt. :P I'm surprised its getting THAT high of percentages!
