I would say no because the students already wear the same uniforms, Abercrombie & Fitch and American Eagle. And the good part about those uniforms is that the tax payers don't pay for it, the students and their parents do.

well my school requires it...(im English). One of the arguements against it is that uniforms can be quite expensive I mean my blazer costs £50 add another £50 for the shoes which only last me 6 months and then theres all teh shirts and trousers etc etc it can get quite costly... this isnt a problem for my family but some families can find this an unnecessary burden.
I'm with the user above...and honestly, it's not that bad. Though my brother had an uncanny habit of destroying his sweater or loosing his tie all the time so he was the only one who had to pay a lot for replacements. My blazer lasted 3 years...
Maybe. I wouldn't enjoy it but it would be nice not seeing emo styles in the hall every day.

They would just have to kick me out i guess. Ill be damned if im gonna let someone tell me what to wear and then make me pay for it.no, i hated uniforms, my elementary, had it, my middle school had it and when I go to high school, there's no drees code. Although now i do like wearing collared shirts just not one solid color, and not tucked insmallcaplegend
Collared shirts like the ones that button down the entire way? Or the polo shirts or whatever with just the 3 buttons at the top of the shirt?
As another English person, uniforms feel completely normal to me. I found it really weird when I got to college, and was allowed to wear what I wanted - I actually found it irritating having to decide what to wear every day =/ I don't like having to think in the mornings.
But then, my school uniform wasn't that bad. Except we had to wear these heavy black blazers, and had to ask for permission to take them off =/ And I remember, the teacher said we couldn't take them off, because she said it wasn't that hot. But she was wearing a light summer dress, and we were wearing heavy blackblazers.... That was irritating. But mainly, uniforms weren't too bad.

I dont really mind my uniform.... but I always make a scene and go off on one if a teacher in casual dress doesnt let us take our blazers off when its hot....
Uniform is agreat way to teach a person dignity & pride. But the lack of punishment won't make it effective. Humiliation and physical abuse are the best way to mold a person into disciplined individual. Act like a scumbag I will treat you like a scumbag. If you help me I will help you. If you respect me you will earn my respect. UNIFORM and in SINGLE FORM, THE SAME, NO STUDENT IS SPECIAL. NO IDENTITY.
It's hard to discipline people when you are notpermitted to embarrass nor hit them. So that's why I think the uniform thing is not in public school. It's impossible to regiment people without the promise of physical or emotional injury.
No, but everyone does seem to wear the same clothes, and most people have the same haircut...I stick out like a sore thumb.
Many public schools do require uniforms. My school enacted that policy (fortunately two years after I graduated) to some initial controversy. But after a few months, everyone chilled out and it was fine.
The students' families had to buy their own uniforms, too, so no additional burden on the taxpayers.
