Careful that you don't go too far down the rabbit hole.. You don't want to have an.. accident...You know. I've come to the conclusion that there is a conspiracy from some secret organization that wants to make OT as dull as possible by perpetuating these f***ing trend threads.
This can't possiblu be just a random fool who missed last couple of days tip thread and went "Hey! I'm going to make yet another thread about the same subject! ^_^"
I refuse to buy that such hive-mind isn't deliberate.

Rabbit hole reminds me of the matrix.

I'll go make the next hypothetical scenario thread then!
We are so getting in the Legion of Humdrum.
I am a student so I don't tip.Hexagon_777That's not an excuse. It's a reason not to eat out or order out. If you can't tip, don't order food. :|

Its good as an advice and all, or a word of wisdom as in "its best if..." but your serious emoticon came off very absolute as if its a crime (exaggerating here) to not tip.

Didn't say or mean to say that it was. Just saying people who don't tip delivery people are being extremely rude and cheap. Most of the time they're taking their own cars out, and most of the time their employer won't cover the wear and tear that the car suffers from such a job, and it's not like they make great money from the job itself either. Doesn't have to be much, but absolutely no tip is, in the lightest way I can say this, a jerk move. Its not my problem if they dont.

I really hope you don't live in the US with a garbage attitude like that.So not tipping the delivery guy makes me an indecent person. How very odd...

And even if we didnt, that doesnt make us indecent. Since tipping isnt official in any way (although I dont expect to come in agreement about that since "official" can be subjective) then I wont hesistate to order if I cant tip.
Make it copulsory and add a specific sum for it and then I will agree with you.

(they use motorcycles mostly here)Its not my problem if they dont.

But at the same time I dont agree with this strong defense of the tipping system as if someone who doesnt tip is automatically a bad person.
$5 tip. But I was generous one time where I gave the delivery guy $10 tip. Reason being was that he was carrying a lot of stuff (not pizza, but sandwiches, drinks, etc) in his bag. Also, my idiot brother asked him if $4 was enough. :? Seriously, you never ask that question. It's rude.
Where I live our economy pays the wages for the employee so that we don't have to tip. It's quite nice actually!
I wouldn't call them a "bad" person entirely for it, but I wouldn't hesitate to call them cheap and/or a jerk. In America at least, since I don't know how it goes in the others, food delivery is one of those jobs where it's on a largely tip based income. It's not right to not tip them.Yes I am all for people to tip since I know that those people dont earn a lot and especially for deliverymen its harder one would say since they can be out in the rain, cold weather or intense heat.

The only reason tip is expected is because "please give me something extra because my boss doesnt pay me enough" sort of thing. To me, that brings the customer in a difficult situation. Like when a third party is asked to resolve a disagreement between two other people. It shouldnt be my concern. I am not saying that I wont tip (I do tip deliverymen always), I just dont get that attitude that makes people call others who dont tip or dont always tip or do tip but dont find it wrong to order when they cant tip, indecent, not normal (I have heard that in OT) etc.
Well, just to let our ever so gallant Dark__Link know, deliveries and such are included in the price here. Since I'll be making a considerable loss during my next internship, and the fact that it isn't even sure if I will be undertaking a placement year due to the economic climate and the sheer number of people applying, I have to look out for every penny. All this just to get employed sometime in the future. If it makes you feel better, Dark__Link, I am pathetic enough to pick up each and every coin I spot on the pavement. I do hope my "garbage attitude" didn't upset you too much.
I normally tip $3 for my $17 order (tax included). The amount before taxes was like $13 to $14. However, I didn't realize it but I only have two 1 dollar bills at the moment. So I'm gonna tip the guy $2 tonight. Is that ok to tip? $2 for my $13-14 dollar order before tax?

My main reasoning for making this thread was to see if tipping $2 was normal. Because that is all I had on me. I usually tip 3 or 4. I wasn't sure if tipping $2 was a normal thing or if it is kind of disrespectful to tip that low.You know. I've come to the conclusion that there is a conspiracy from some secret organization that wants to make OT as dull as possible by perpetuating these f***ing trend threads.
