I am barely ok with that, If it was reasonable I would be a vegetarian. Reasonable I mean affordable and have easy access to the food. I would LOVE a vegetarian fast food place.

Horse is NOT very tasty at all. I had some when I was in Italy, and it was tough and had no flavor.cell_dweller
I spent a few years in a country overseas where they regularly served dog and monkey. Needless to say I passed on both. I did have BBQ bear in Alaska though, it was good.

It is said that my neighbor cooks dog tacos... As long as it has blood and it is not human, it will most likely end up as a dish.

I've had horse stew once. Didn't know it until I finished the bowl. I enjoyed it, but probably wouldn't go out and purchase it.

In a dystopian future, where horses are slaughtered for food...

Honestly, I don't expand my horizons past the usual meat, like chicken, beef, etc. I don't have any urge to eat a horse, but if that's what people want...

its just the bible talks about what animals are ok to eat. It says any animal that has a split hoof is ok to eat.

Horses do not have a split hoof.

Yes and no. Yes in that I have absolutely no problem with slaughtering horses or eating horse meat. And a partial no because the current agricultural tax breaks really need to be changed. You can already file for farm status if all you do is keep a horse or two for pleasure riding, and can claim upkeep, construction of pens/barns/riding areas/etc. That's all recreational bull**bleep** and shouldn't count. If they can change that so that the only time you can actually claim farm status is by raising and selling horses for meat consumption, then a hell yeah will escape my lips. (this may be different in the US, but who knows)

Yes I would kill a horse again for meat. The only time I've ever eaten fresh meat is in the 'Motherland' where my uncle would grab one of his horses or cows and get to chopping whenever we'd visit.

Mr Ed certainly taste good!

No, I don't. If other countries want to, that's up to them, but I don't see any reason for the US to do it. I'd personally have to be in pretty bad shape to consider eating horse meat. :P

I've had horse once, it was pretty good. I don't see why they wouldn't allow horses to be slaughtered. It's not like they're particularly intelligent, compared to something like pigs. Now there's a smart animal.

Makes sense. They are salt water fish. I don't know about that drunk state, though. People get wasted all the time.

Edit: I mean mammals.

Then fine, the people who follow the bible don't have to eat them. Jews aren't allowed to have pork, yet pork is legal to eat.

The rule was undoubtedly in place because when it was decreed there was no treatment for trichinosis or salmonella, stuff like that. Now it's just cultural.

Nobody wants to eat horse meat, so any manufacturer that thought they could keep it a secret would just be asking for bankruptcy.

We eat it quite alot here in Europe, actually.

as someone who grew up with and still lives on a horse farm.... i approve. there are many MANY horses out there that are mistreated by owners who just have horses for the sake of having horses and have no idea how to care for them, and these horses usually get sold by those owners within a couple years to another person who will do the same thing. i think these horses are far better off being slaughtered for meat (humanely of course) as they contribute nothing to society and just suffer for their entire lives.

Have you ever started to eat a horse and then realised that you weren't that hungry after all?
