Horses could soon be slaughtered again for food in the U.S.

I always fancied a huge horses 'male chicken' but I had the hopes of some wonder drugged not a BBQ.

There are better uses for horses than meat. And I'd imagine it being as tough as leather.

Can't say I would order horse if it was on the menu.

I'm not in the states but I'd eat horse, I'd only start worrying when they start rolling out Soylent Green.

From a purely logical standpoint, horses are animals and humans eat other animals, so it would be logically consistent to allow eating horses as well. Despite this, I feel that horses have had a special role in U.S. history that's culturally significant.

The question from a nihilistic perspective should be, does the economic benefit of horses as a food commodity outweigh the economic benefit of horses as cultural icons?

If you are willing to eat chicken or cow then why not horse?

My two OT thoughts on this thread:

1. Horse meat isn't nice in my opinion, I ate it in Germany once, and it was decidedly unspectacular (though the BBQ marinade it was in was lovely).
2. I bet horses make harrowing screams a bit like humans when you kill them.

I can't imagine it would sell well. Just like if they allowed dog to be served. Nobody would buy it because of the social stigma attached.
