One of the awesomest easy games out there.

OK so most movie games suck, but as of late there's been some nice surprises, and almost all of them look DAMN good. EA's track record is quite good actually, with the Lord of the Rings games and 007 entries, so I had high hopes for their adaptation of Batman Begins, and overall it doesn't disappoint.

Batman is one of the better looking games on the Gamecube, and has that 'EA feel' to it, which is a very very good thing. Sound is also top notch, as are the controls and acting (by the film's cast no less). The story is accurate and expands HUGE on the film, allowing for scenes and sections that wouldn't have been seen otherwise, and instead of feeling tacked on, these end up working great.

The controls as mentioned are great, and incredibly varied as well. Batman fights ruthlessly when it comes down to it, with that cape looking fantastic. Normally you want to pick off opponents one by one, but in this game when you're surrounded by enemies its actually at its best as you flow from move to move effortlessly. The stealth aspect is top notch also, with the additional fear mechanic a nice touch. It seems a bit unexplored however, and hopefully if EA follows up with a Dark Knight game we'll be able to see what its really able to do. Here however we simply have something somewhat Geist-like where you simply need to hit hotspots to up the fear factor of the enemy until you can either swoop in to take him out, or trigger a nifty scene that does it for you.

There are also some crazy Batmobile scenes, which are blatantly Burnout-fueled where you have to take out police cars and whatnot, but its still fun and a needed addition to spice things up with not only something faster paced, but also a great reminder of the intense scene from the film.

As much praise as I've laid on it, it IS limited, as the game is pretty damn easy. There's not one moment that'll tax your brain and you'll always know just what to do without any problems, which is a bit of a letdown considering how cerebral the film was as well. Replay value is also limited, as aside from some additional comic-inspired Batsuits there's really nothing extra for you to do, but while you plough through the game you will have a great time. It does have a decent length which won't leave you wanting more, but instead anticipating a richer deeper sequel with The Dark Knight.
