Xbox One Game Streaming Targeting Full 1080p/60fps

Director Mike Ybarra also says that Microsoft is hoping to achieve as little latency as possible.

Microsoft's just-announced Xbox One-to-PC game streaming service is targeting to run at full 1080p resolution and 60 frames-per-second. Partner director Mike Ybarra said today during a group interview attended by GameSpot that the service is running at 720p/30fps right now in the testing labs, but Microsoft expects this to improve to full HD by the time it launches publicly later this year.

Achieving maximum graphical output will, as you might expect, depend on bandwidth speeds in your home. "It will really largely depend on the scenario to which someone is trying to play," Ybarra said. "But we want to make sure that we can get the optimal experience."

Microsoft's game-streaming service will allow gamers to stream their Xbox One titles to Windows 10 devices in their home over a Wi-Fi connection.

Ybarra also addressed the issue of latency. Without making any specific promises, Ybarra said, "Certainly our goal is to be as low-latency as possible."

doesnt this mean that the games need to be 1080p / 60fps running on the X1 first in order to stream at that quality. kind of a mute point.

well halo 5 is "supposedly" be 1080P 60FPS although i doubt this will be possible

currently 720P 60FPS on the online part is acceptable.

also froza 5 NBA 2K15 and skylanders are 1080P 60 fps

wolfensiten is 1080P but 30+ FPS to maintain stability

Yeah, and there's no way FPS or racing games are going to be playable with the latency that can be offered.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Catch up? Sony has Remote Play and PS Now already, and both are working. With reasonable latency. MS is still at the "targeting" phase. It would take Sony a couple of months the most to port the client to Windows/OS X/Linux IF they want to.

Unless you have a windows tablet, this streaming is pointless. Windows tablets barely sell and you're no going to stream to a PC.

What the cockroaches at Microsoft are trying to do is, get you used to streaming your games from your xbox1 to pc/table and then when they can they will do what they've wanted to do when they where about to bring the xbox1 out. Turn the xbox1 into streaming your games from their servers, and "TA-DA" they have got what they wanted from the beginning, no more physical copies of games and you own absolutely nothing but a rental.

I thought this is why so many people gave Microsoft the finger and bought the PS4.

I'm assuming when he says that the streaming will be 1080/60 he means that the actual image output from the Xbox One may be different, but the stream will be full HD at 60 fps and not compressed. Games that run natively in 1080/60 will still appear as such when streamed in other words with no compromise on quality.

I can see the uses for this, as I usually don't have access to the TV in the evenings due to wife and kids so the option to use the Xbox via alternative means is definitely handy.

With a streaming service you don't need a gaming PC either since the Xbox is the one doing the processing, so a cheap laptop with integrated graphics can be used.

I love how everyone here is a coder/developer and know exactly how Microsoft is NOT going to achieve this haha. If they're shooting for 1080p/60 it's because the reality and possibility for it is there. You people need to stop acting like you know how this is all going to function because none of you do, none...

Ridiculous...

Just because your Xbox is in one room, doesn't mean you have to play there.

How much money MS perceive on each game Valve, origin or ubisoft or whatever distributor sells on PC? lol. You just buy the OS once and that's it. It's not like you have to buy a licence each year or something. MS is a ghost as far as PC gaming goes. This streaming crap isn't going to change sht. They had a chance with Game for windows live but they blew it by offering a stagnant and pain in the ass software(i'm glad it got trashed, it was inevitable with what the competition had to offer).
