Why Prey 2 Was Canceled

Any way we can get Prey 1 on Steam again?

It is what it is. It would have been a nice addition to the Prey series but oh well. The new Prey looks good, so it should be a good successor the the first Prey game.

I don't see how a game gets so bad that it can't just be released as a $15 downloadable game.

Prey 1 was bad, I played it for like 5 minutes and that was it, we want another Bioshock game;)

I didn't realize that many people enjoyed Prey. It was a fair to middling game by early 360 standards. Perhaps making it interesting is akin to "Cherokee" difficulty settings...

So bummed Prey 2 was shit canned. It looked so awesome. I'm diggin' this new vision too as it's a Bioshock type game.

I still wish the game had that Bounty Hunter thing from PRey 2....i just hope this new one carries on that idea instead of the sci-fi horror System Shock wannabe (But since that Arkane tried to make Dishonored the modern "Thief: Metal Age", i highly doubt that)

Wanna know what's happening these days? Reappropriation.

Look at the new God of War. Look at Doom. Look at Prey.

These are all IPs with cringe worthy content. Devs see it and are changing it for the better. Prey was an okay game, but it's concept and name is better positioned for something new and not stupid. By stupid, I mean not mature, not popular, not aging well. GoW and Kratos are terrible, so they matured it and it'll sell better. GoW (4) is actually enticing to me now that Kratos isn't Kratos. Doom took a decade to release most likely bc the devs didn't like the (assumed) corny ass nature of Doom and changed it multiple times.

What you're seeing with Prey is new IP from an old idea, just made better. The name "Prey" alone could foster 10 games, but not with its original source material. See Far Cry. They had aliens, then they had Vaas. Think Far Cry could've been the franchise it is today without changing directions and removing the alien crap? Doubt it.

Bethesda sees Prey as new IP, and it'll go the way of Far Cry. Which I don't mind at all. It might be able to even surpass Far Cry as a disparate anthology series of protags that find themselves in horrible, hunted situations.

Sounds like it was shaping up to be pretty cool but Bethesda wanted more input instead of just letting the devs do what they do best. I hate it when things like this happens. It's stupid...

Anyway...for those that missed my interview with Bethesda...

[LouiXIII] "Hey Bethesda...I heard you guys got a new IP."

[Bethesda] "What IP is that?"

[LouiXIII] "The one with the guy in space fighting shadow monsters on some kind of space shuttle."

[Bethesda] "Oh...you mean Prey. Yes. Prey's development is coming along nicely."

[LouiXIII] "Prey? But there's already a game called Prey."

[Bethesda] ".......................ummmm, yeah."

[LouiXIII] "..........................what's that supposed to mean?"

[Bethesda] "Well we're calling this one Prey too."

[LouiXIII] "ohhhhh.....so this is Prey 2. Awesome. It's about time Prey got a sequel."

[Bethesda] "Ummm....no. This is not a sequel. This is Prey too...as in T-O-O."

[LouiXIII] "WHAT!!! The original came out last gen which wasn't that long ago and it was ******* awesome. Why not just make a sequel and keep the lead character the same?"

[Bethesda] "ummmmm.....I don't know."

[LouiXIII] "Do you at least know why you're calling this Prey when it has nothing to do with the original game?

[Bethesda] "ummmmm....let me get back with you on that."

Why not just say sometimes sh*t happens even when things look good so the game was canned but nobody is to blame for it, sh*t happens sometimes....

it's more believable than a mild we don't wanna lay blame or anything but we also don't wanna talk about it.....eh the whole thing is weird, Human Head's game looked really cool and that's the issue, why was something with a lot of thought put in canned??? don't answer.....

like I said myself sh*t happens......we just gotta deal with it......new game looks good though, at least a new one is coming even if it may not connect with the first one at all.....

I really do wonder what was wrong with Prey 2 what they showed of it looked really good maybe it just wasn't fun to play.

Anyone else get the "Madam Secretary" ad in the video and then puke in your mouth while thinking about hi-LIAR-y Clinton? What's next, are they going to make a Netflix original about the life of a billionaire in politics? They should, however, make a show about how a true progressive ran for President in a party that's so called 'democratic', yet the powers at be in this so called party completely derailed it's own candidate, using the media, government established shills, and dirty tricks to smear an honest politician with frizzy hair, a history of actually caring about people, and of course arthritis and a cool Brooklyn accent. Off topic, I know but I just had to vent.
