Third Game This Week Added to Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Program

Xbox 360's Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition now playable.

Xbox One owners can add a classic fighting game to their library of Xbox 360 titles through Microsoft's backwards compatibility program. Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition is now available.

The game built on the original Street Fighter IV and added many new fighters, bonus stages, game modes, and more. If you already own a digital copy of Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, it should be waiting in your Ready to Download list. If you own a physical copy, just pop the disc into your Xbox One and the download will begin. You can also buy the game in the Xbox Store for US $30 / £20 / AU $50.

Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition is the third Xbox 360 game this week to become playable on Xbox One. Two days ago, Microsoft announced Earth Defence Force: Insect Armageddon and F1 2014 were being added to the backwards compatibility list, with many more games on the way.

At E3 2017, Microsoft announced that original Xbox games are coming to the backwards compatible library. More recently we learned that four Halo games--including Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo 4, and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary--will soon be playable on Xbox One too.

GameSpot is keeping track of every backwards compatible game announced for Xbox One, and you can check out the continuously updated list here.

Works well too, all my DLC was there and I transferred my save over to the cloud. To be honest though, I would much rather they make SF3 Online BC, that game is a classic. SSF4AE I played way too much last gen, don't think I'll play that much now but it's still cool to have it installed for some matches once in a while

Atleast they don't have to rebuy it like I did for fecking Ps4, because ps4 has no BC but a feck ton of games from ps1,ps2, and ps3 being resold on the store because those games are ancinet and no one wants to play them, but that's why they're reselling them.

Whether it's games that I like/want or not, as long as they keep rolling bc games out, then I'm excited.

@southsouthsac: That's what I wanted to know, as well as if MS will allow 360 sticks to be used on the ONE.

Man... talk about a money grab... they just gon take advantage of Xbox one street fighter fans like that?... they took a long time to bring out AE just to milk the gamers and get them to drop $20 on super old vanilla IV... and then charge $30 for AE?.... this is some premium BULL!

@SilentStorm54: You just described Capcom's business strategy over the years in a nutshell. FYI, they did the same thing to PS3 gamers as well.

@SilentStorm54: AE was free in games with gold a few years ago. So plenty of people got it for FREE (myself included).

As I already owned vanilla SF IV, since launch, it didn´t really affect me that much, but it was pretty greedy to release vanilla before, making people pay to play an older version of a game they already owned.

But I enjoyed. It was nice going back to Vanilla, I like its story mode better, and unlocking all the characters again was fun.

@LeoKRock: understood, but for those who don't have their 360 versions anymore (me) or those who missed the free download (me), this sucks... I love SF and bought the vanilla for $20 when it went backwards after waiting to see if AE would come out.... while you make points I don't think it takes away from the perception of their decision and definitely doesn't eliminate my displeasure
