Blizzard has detailed the Halloween event for Overwatch, which is called "Overwatch Halloween Terror" and will let you "explore the haunted streets of Hollywood, expand your collection of themed holiday items, and relive a chilling tale in our first-ever PvE brawl: Junkenstein's Revenge."

In this co-op PvE brawl players team up with three others and face off against a "host of shambling zomnics," which are essential spooky zombie robots. During the campaign, players will also have to take down Halloween-themed versions of heroes, including Dr. Junkenstein (Junkrat), Junkenstein's Monster (Roadhog), the Reaper (Reaper), and the mysterious witch (Mercy).

To do this, they'll have to pick the Alchemist (Ana), the Archer (Hanzo), the Gunslinger (McCree), or the Soldier (Soldier: 76), and "defend Adlersbrunn castle's doors against Dr. Junkenstein's onslaught."

"Heroes will need to work together and develop strategies to withstand wave after wave of zomnic attacks," Blizzard says in a press release. "Will you be able to keep your cool when Junkenstein's Monster appears?"

Blizzard has also released the Junkenstein comic, which reveals Dr. Jamison Junkenstein "is an inventor and scientist who was once employed by the Lord of Adlersbrunn."

There are 100 new Halloween cosmetic items available to unlock through Halloween-specific Loot Boxes, which function the same way as they did in the Summer Games event.

"All in-game Loot Boxes have been replaced with special glowing jack-o'-lanterns, and they're filled to the brim with over 100 new cosmetic treats," Blizzard explains. "As with our previous events, any Loot Box you earn or purchase from now until the event concludes will contain at least one item from our Halloween 2016 collection--including profile icons, sprays, victory poses, emotes, highlight intros, skins, and more."

Overwatch Halloween Terror is live now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

The Overwatch Halloween event was leaked on October 6, when an Xbox Store listing teased new Halloween-themed skins, highlight intros, emotes, victory poses, voice lines, and player icons would be available soon. More recently, Sony's PlayStation Blog listed Halloween Loot Boxes as arriving for sale on PSN this week.

Blizzard has announced that 20 million players have now played Overwatch. It specifies this as the "number of accounts" that have done so. This means it may be counting multiple Xbox Live or PSN accounts that have played using one copy of the game and, as a result, the figure isn't a reflection of Overwatch's actual sales.

Blizzard has released a developer update discussing changes to Symmetra that may be "a little bit more dramatic" than the traditional hero balances Blizzard has issued thus far.
