GTA 4 Is Now Playable On Xbox One

Grand Theft Auto IV is now playable on Xbox One via the console's backwards compatibility program.

This also means the Episodes from Liberty City DLC packs, The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, will both work on Xbox One.

If you own GTA IV digitally on Xbox 360, the game should now appear in the Ready to Install section of your library, while physical owners just need to insert the disc and download the game. Developer Rockstar has also confirmed save games will carry over if you've uploaded your save files to the cloud from Xbox 360. If you don't already own the base game, it's available on the Xbox Store for US $20 / £18 / AU $40.

Grand Theft Auto IV originally released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in 2008. This was followed by the two aforementioned story expansions, as well as a compilation of those in the form of Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City. This double pack is also playable on Xbox One.

Recent additions to the Xbox One backwards compatibility library include Lego Indiana Jones, Rocket Knight, and Shadows of the Damned. In other backwards compatibility news, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said he has a "never say never" attitude about bringing the feature to PC.
