Bethesda's Prey reboot launches in just a few weeks, but fans will get to play the spooky first-person shooter over a week before its release thanks to a playable demo.

Prey Demo: Opening Hour is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on April 27, eight days ahead of the full game's May 5 launch. Bethesda's press release did not contain any mention of this trial version coming to PC.

The trial will give you a glimpse of life in the shoes of Morgan Yu, lead scientist aboard the Talos I space station. Bethesda has previously revealed that players can choose whether they want to play as a male or female Morgan, and that events will pan out slightly differently depending on which option you pick. Your environment can also change depending on your relationship with Morgan's brother, Alex, who happens to be the boss of Talos I.

Prey videos are coming thick and fast as we head towards the game's May 5 release date. One recent video highlighted some of the game's supernatural powers, while a previous trailer showed off some terrifying alien enemies.

Prey is a reimagining of the 2006 original, and a replacement for the canceled sequel to that game that was in development at Human Head Studios.

The new title is seen by some as a spiritual successor to the 1994 game System Shock, while we also think it's been inspired by BioShock. We recently went hands on with Prey, and you can see our thoughts on it here. Alternatively, take a look at these exclusive images.
