Can I say GS is really a paid media these days? How can they miss such an extraordinary release, easily RPG of the year? There is no review, no news what so ever. Only AAA titles and editorial/advertorial contents. Its official release, not open beta or early access. Just because its a small budget game that there is no coverage? Metacritic has a lot of player reviews, which are players who already spend min 10 hours+ Not like those hyped kids giving 10s on release day for COD.

With the western captial started flowing to the east, it seems a perfect timing for the gaming industrial to do something now.

Through out the brief history, we know many had tried in the past decade, many had failed, most of them claimed defeat due to piracy, or goverment regualation problem. But, is it really the reason?

Sony launched PS2 in China in 2004, which is almost 4 years delay after its initial globe launch. At this time, moded PS2 had already occupied the entire "underground market" Plus, with only a handful of games that has been localized into the Chinese language, no wonder they failed.

Other software publishers as well, most of the games they sell in the country is couple of year delayed, and we all know the average life spend of a game, not very long.

A more recent event is World of Warcraft, and I am awared how ridiculars it sound, even today, 55million,(thats half of thetotal World number ofWOW players)players are still in TBC age, thanks to the publishing regualation.

The way i see it, the gaming biz's fail in China is on both sides. On one hand, companies dont pay enough attention to this hugh market, and what they did is "Oh, this game sells in the rest of the world, so will it in CHina" or "its China, we just thorw them the out dated game and they will chew on it"

The Chinese arent no fools, they maybe Cheap labour, but when it comes to buying things, they are as cunning as a fox.
New marketing strategy should be implemented, and localization is a MUST, what's more important, global launch!

On the other hand, piracy is still a pain in the arse to many companies. This may seems difficult in a country that bascially the entire IT industrial is developed by PIRACY!( I **** you not). And even for the rest of the world, i can hardly believe all the mp3 in your hard drive is ALL legal, and you have never played a single pirated game.

But piracy can be counter in some ways:

1st, as i said before, globe launch, before they even had the chance to dl it. And I know many Chinese gamers are very, very passionated.

2nd, Localized price tag, just like what M$ just did with its Win7, 350 RMB in China, that's 35EURO or 60$. if the games can be around 20Euro or 30$, they will sell. You have no idea how many people i know made a purchase on COD6MW2 these days, if its a good game, they are willing to pay for it.

3rd, online games, I know how wow may sound a hugh failiour to the rest of the world, but 55million is NOT a small number, and as long as the company is making more than 30% profit, i call it a success.

Despites the difference how different country works, business and profit are what we after, you dont have to like the people to sell to them, but if there is a market and it can provide more jobs to people, i do not see the point why not?

I remember years ago, SONY or SHARP developed a goggle that one can wear on their head, which it feels like watching a 42 inch TV. So that solved the display problem

And now, with Wii remote or PS3 6 axis controller, there should be no problem stimulate movement of the head.

in this case, with a laser gun and a DDR carpet. this will make an awesome VR FPS game.

Any thoughts?

nobody can compare to me in squishing time. I am doing intern work full time at a company, had to wake up at 6am to catch the first train, got home at around 8pm(4 hours on the train per day). and had to cook for mself. I also works at a restaurant on Saturday from 11AM to 11PM, including traveling. But i manage to play for at least 10 hours a week.

Ok, I've got a ASUS M51sn NB, it has a 9500m, so far I ran everygame ok. But it is still using167 driver. I tried to use the latest driver for it. But Nvidia say for 9500m, the driver can only be provided from ASUS. Since I have important company softwares and documents installed in my NB. I dont really want to try it to see what happens.

any clue? anyone?

Thanks in advance

why does some people always love to generalize things? yes a Chinese man died because of his own "stupid" but that doesn't represent the Chinese people are stupid! Oh yeah, btw, a American gunner gun down several students in school does that means Amercan people are ALL student killers? I dont think so!

Focus on the case, and that's all

yes am a Chinese, and i know that happen in those Cyber cafes, there are people that hanging in internet cafe all day long, the moment you went in they are there, and the next time you go, they are still there. oh, they do eat and drink, judging from the bowl and empty bottles next to them. They are not consider to be NOMARL in China as well. but i am pretty sure this happens else where too. You actually think those people in WOW have full epic gears have a normal social life??

a survey does not need everyone to vote for it, just the ratio.

Eddie5vs1

Actually, you're wrong. I work in psychology, and statistical theory clearly states that as your sample size increases, you are more likely to find a reasonably valid and reliable finding, ratio has nothing to do with it. Further, this poll would clearly have poor reliability and validity as it's not a TRUE random sample. You'd also have to further explore the number of "faking good" or "faking bad" responses--that is fanboys who want the system to appear bad and the 360 fanboys who want their console to look good.

Don't get me wrong though, IMO, the 360 isn't nearly as reliable as the PS3 or Wii. That doesn't mean though that it is as faulty as the ps3 fanboys would like you to believe, nor is it as reliable as MS is reporting.

agreed...

just want to post my guess...nothing more
