So they don't know their fanbase, they got scared about reception if they tried to please everyone (which was already a bad plan), and as if that wasn't enough they just pulled back on the idea of an RE2 remake. Nice.
"Lara Croft has no iconic (or even recognizable) theme music."
How unfortunate, just like in the 2013 reboot, that they chose to deliberately not include the legendary Lara Croft/Tomb Raider theme from almost all the original games, which had excellent overall OSTs too.
@gargungulunk: They've confirmed several times their intention is to do precisely that kind of marketing campaign, short and fast, by surprise, releasing not long after its start.
I still remember all the horrible comments on Plays Like; they made me, mostly a non-commenter, still write a couple of kind comments of encouragement and even confront some people.
Good to know some journalists care about those few nice ones :)
@Vojtass: I didn't call it a stupid video because he wasn't right, I did so because he made it for the attention, and built the whole thing with comparisons and arguments that are retarded at best. He wasn't fair at all.
Now about the truth, I don't think anyone is saying CDPR are god and don't need to improve, certainly I'm not, like you I've heard the horror stories (although I've also heard really nice stories of working there), but my point is, there doesn't seem to be any evidence pointing at CDPR being a specially bad case of crunches and other problems.
That never means its not wrong, the heads should be trying their hardest to make it the best place to work and take care of its employees, but the whole internet now is trying to paint this picture that CDPR is an exceptionally bad place with no actual indication of it imo.
When you look at reality taking everything into account, there doesn't seem to be any studio in the world that can offer a better job than CDPR at making such insane games. The only comparable companies, such as Rockstar, Cloud Imperium, and perhaps a few others, have the same horror stories and reviews, if not way worse.
I just think people forget that each studio is different, and has different objectives and as such is built for different things, if you can show me a single place that makes games of the ambition of W3 or CP2077 and still keeps all people happy then it'd be another story.
At least though, this means they are being bothered by the whole thing, and who knows, perhaps one way or another this could improve employee's situation at the company. It seems unlikely however, as no one has done it yet afaik.
@Zero_Maniac: The majority of companies try to do their best, but making the most ambitious games in the industry will never reach perfection for each employee.
I've spoken with a few devs that worked recently in CDPR, and their story fits what you can interpret from the letter and the Glassdoor reviews: It's a fantastic place, but not for everyone, it isn't for devs who want a safe and comfortable job milking out risk-less sequels, its for those who are super passionate and will take some problems for working in insane ground-breaking projects.
