@Grenadeh isn't just about personality either you know, it's about moving the story too he's daughter death made it possible for his relationship with Ellie through the course of the game she became her replacement.
Sarah's death made Joel the cold violent guy he is, her death molded his "after apocalypse personality"
Tess's death was the fuel Joel needed to keep going and take Ellie to Tommy's.
Sam and Henry's death did nothing really, Ellie's mind was already set because of her best friend's death, which was another woman btw, an important fact about her backstory and her motivation, a fact that was neglected till the very last moments of the game.
Now Carolyn isn't really saying the game is bad, I'm not saying that either, just pointing out some interesting facts.

Women can take the heat, believe me, most hear way worse things on a daily basis and I still don't understand how this is not sexism? For instance some time a go while I was playing bf3 someone said "all black people are outlaws and deserve to die"
You think it's nice for someone who has black skin hear that? Someone that probably suffered at least once in his life from racism. Why a white guy isnt bothered by something like that? They dont have stigmas assciated to their skin skin or sex, they can take the "heat".
Because it was like that 400 years ago makes it right? Why exactly? Imagine it if everyone had the same thinking we would still be living in caves.
I know some people saying something online can happen "at the moment", but indirectly perpetuates a 400 years thinking that women are sex objects.
