[QUOTE="Blayde-"][QUOTE="ASK_Story"]

It seems this game did get some points off from lack of originality that's been touched on by every review I read. I haven't played it so I won't say anything good or bad against it, but as a specatator kind of like showing interest in reading a book or a movie, the game did look too much like Tomb Raider with a guy, or just another wannabe Indiana Jones. Even the commercial I saw recently on TVwas cliche and generic, where he sneeks up on a bunch of bad guys withguns and his cell phone goes off. Than hethrows his cell phone to hit one of the bad guys and he startsgunning everyone down. Not terribly original, kind of like movies like Six Days Seven Nights with Harrison Ford or Sahara withMatthew McConaughey. Popcorn movie stuff, basically. But based on the reviews, it looked like it was almost that Raiders of the Lost Ark type of game...almost.

So this score, in my opinion, isn't a surprise. EGM gave it all 8.5s across the board based out of three reviews, each with good points. Easy puzzles, lack of originality.

For a game that's focused around treasure hunting and exploration, having easy puzzles is definitely a weakness. And this exploration themed game is something that's been done too many times before. So I feel like Naughty Dog, although a commendable first start on the PS3, should do something more original next time.

ASK_Story

Not to be insulting but you might want to actually play the game before you make comments as broad as what you just said. For those of us that have played it and understand what they were going for it makes you sound silly.

Did you read my post? I clearly mentioned that I won't say anything good or bad about the game because I haven't played it. I highlighted where I said that above. My comments are only from first impressions like say reading reviews on a movie and seeing the trailer.

That's it, nothing more. Didn't say it was a bad game.

I agree from the overall consensus the game seems like a routine 8 hour shooter set in a jungle...I think it will satsify some people but the enviornment and characters defenitely deserve more attention. Again, it may be very solid(especially to the Gears crowd) but in 2007 I'd prefer the total package myself.

If anyone gets the game I'd like to know if it works with the previous versions, since they are impossible to play on a HD.

I could see the game getting a lower score if the reviewer thought the game had too much shooting segments, but that really wasn't talked about. Of course everyone has there own opinions, but it's getting really tough to gauge purchases off of GS reviews .

Seems to share the same niggles as other IO games, my outlook for the game hasn't changed at all.

Any Wii owner who doesn't buy this games should have their limbs torn off, their livers beaten with their torn off legs, their brains eaten by rabid dogs, their small intestine tied up into a knot, have a bomb implanted into their heart, and have 1,000 needles put into their lungs.

It's that good.

Skylock00

While the overall quality isn't as high as Mario Galaxy, the same could be said of people who don't buy Zack and Wiki, IMHO.

It's tough to squeeze that one in as a multiplatform owner. I almost pulled the trigger yesterday, but I'm already straining my budget, and Mass Effect isn't out yet.

OK I see the perk of Halo 1 online...but that is an exception, most pre-XBL Xbox games could not sustain a community. So basically unless they changed the emu process you are paying for mostly inaccurate roms...I'd rather keep the discs.

1up is NOT a credible source whatsoever. Take a look at their review archives, if they even load.

[QUOTE="OneWingedAngeI"]if it isnt galaxy im just going to explode. thats my opinion :P . a new halo iteration, while great, was pretty similar to the other two. orange box better not even be nominated. its not a game. mass effect has a good shot though. i think AC will be a little too... i dont know, obscure to get a goty. ASK_Story

I didn't know TF 2, Portal and Episdode 2 weren't games...

Orange Box shouldn't be elegible because it's a compilation. Even though it's the best compilation ever, it really is a three year old game with expansions. The only thing new is Portal and TF2, really.

I think Spike VGA loses ALL credibility because they nominated the Orange Box as GOTY *ahem* ignoring Super Mario Galaxy which should have been nominated. AND they placed Portal in one of the other categories, which makes no sense really.

Anyway, my personal pick is Mario Galaxy.

It doesn't matter that it's a compliation, it's made by the same company and it's one disc, three of the games are new, therefore it deserves a nomination. That's like saying Die-Hard Trilogy shouldn't have been eligable for GOTY, because technically it's the same thing.

Nevermind each of the titles: Portal, Team Fortress 2 and Episode 2 have been extremely well-recieved individually as well, put them together and you have one of the best packages of the year...it's a top 5 purchase therefore deserves a nod. If someone could only choose between Galaxy and Orange Box for the entire year, I guarantee OB would be played longer.

Did SMG get snubbed? Sure, but there is no clear indication that it's miles beyond the current nominees either, so I don't think it's a big deal, as the 360 has been outputting quality at a much faster pace then the other companies, so it's no suprise to see a GOTY list dominated by titles from that console.

My guess is Halo 3...simply because it has the replayability advantage. Galaxy probably wouldn't get it here, I don't think GS has too many platorming fans. You also have to think, how many people are going to complete Mass Effect in a month? How many people are going to remember GOW2? What about AC, that could be a winner too. Thing is, there is great competition this year on the 360, my guess that it's the console that takes the most GOTY wins.
