After the disappointing KOTOR 2, I really hope they make a third one.
I really hope it is NOT a MMO.
I would like them to make a third, single player version to conclude the story, because the 2nd one had promise, but parts of the story, especially the ending, were weak.
Also if a 3rd does get made, I hope they don't rush it, like they did with the 2nd.

Depends what type of RPG you like.

If you're expecting an epic, story-driven RPG, you will be disappointed.
It's more of a sandbox RPG. There's no fancy Final Fantasy syle cut-scenes & if you just do the main quests, you'll finish it in a couple of days.
But there are so many side quests, guild quests & places to explore, you could easily rack up 100+ hours on it.
In all honesty, I found the game boring for the first 10 hours or so, but after that it does suck you in.
I don't know why, because the combat isn't great & most of the random dungeons have very little worthwhile treasure in them.
You seem to spend a lot of time just exploring the vast landscape & dungeons you come across. But the landscape is so big & detailed, it is fun & addictive to just spend a lot of time exploring it. You'll definitely be impressed by just how massive the world of Oblivion actually is.
It does have it's flaws: The combat is basic, but functional. Towards the end of the game & after playing it for so long, I found it got a bit repetitive: Go into dungeon, kill enemies, recover treasure or quest item, then leave. But don't be put off, it's not all like that. Some of the guild quests are really well done & immense fun to play.

I'd say overall, Oblivion is a good 8/10 game. I think some of the scoring for this game was a tad generous. I wouldn't say it's anywhere near the best I've ever played, but it is still worth playing.

If I was you, I would buy the GOTY edition, because I found the 'Knights of the Nine' & 'Shivering Isles' expansions more interesting than the main quest.

Also a quick technical note: My Xbox 360 couldn't handle Oblivion: it either wouldn't work at all, or it kept freezing & the load times were ridiculous, so I had to buy it for the PS3. A few people on my Xbox Live friends list said they had similar issues with Oblivion & a couple, including myself, couldn't play it at all. Which really sucked, because I hate the PS3 controller & I really wanted to get all the Xbox achievements for it, which I would have got if I could have played it all the way through on the Xbox.
