I used to think this way OP but then I got over it. If most people have to pick an age to go back to, they will say something in the early to mid 20s. The teen years are full of all sorts of awkwardness and characterized by a total lack of freedom. The 20s are where its at. You will get over it soon.
Pay attention to the interfaces. If you can use eSATA, get one with that. If not, look for firewire. USB 2.0 is fine if thats what you have to use but Firewire is a little bit faster and eSATA is tons faster.
The "its just a word, get over it" argument is so immature. Controlling your language, having some decorum and being respectful requires so little effort and makes such a difference in how people perceive you. Using the word "g@y" or racial slurs may or may not make people think you are a racist or a homophobe, but they certainly make you look selfish and inconsiderate.
