They chose to bite the hand that fed them for twenty years by going casual.

dracula_16

ummm... i didn't see a lot of 'feeding' going on during the GC years. wasn't Nintendo dead last? wasn't everyone predicting doom and destruction? and now you feel they owe you something for your 'support'?

perhaps if the gaming community 'support' hadn't left them fully in the red, they wouldn't have had to change direction..

I would rather that GTA4 then mario rehashes and stupid childrens game. The only game i like on the wii is wii sport and that got boring after an hour. Sure the technology is great and the idea is awesome but the games suck arse

smartcriminal

lmfao @ this

like the post above me said, gta4 is the most rehashed rehash possibly in gaming history. not only that but it's a rehash of a game that had 3 (rehash) versions in what, 3 years? 4? thats a game a year.

there's a new main mario game once every 6 or 7 years. and they are all completely different.

truly one of the most uninformed posts ive ever seen in system wars. and that's saying a LOT

Still living in the past. Where's the new ip's?lolkie_81

Just curious, but what game are you playing the most right now? I'm willing to bet it's some sort of sequel. Probably higher than 3 too.

I'm 29 and I'm finally in a salary range to afford an HDTV, PS3, and a good sound system (and rent to live in NYC...), so in some ways gaming is better than ever now.

My tastes have changed it's true - for example I love my Wii as a way to relax after work (Sports especially) but I admit that when I was 17 I probably wouldn't have seen the appeal. I also I find go through cycles - 2 hrs/day for a a few months and then next to nothing for a few months. I definitely don't see myself quitting completely, ever.

My GF lives outside of the city so I have a fair number of nights to myself during the week.

After the comments of Epic games president remarking on how developing for the Wii would be like taking a step backwards instead of forward, then you can't help but wonder how many developers feel the same way about Nintendo's lack luster hardware console.

Since Epic is the creators of such hits like Gears of War and Unreal Tournament 3, the gaming developers take the CEO's comments very seriously and no doubt have contemplated the same thing, considering the Wii's lack of Hi-def gaming, Hard Drive and other next gen hardware, not to mention the slightly more complex control scheme that needs special attention by developers to program for.

All those console sales might not amount to much once Nintendo is done releasing all their first party titles.

Now you can dismiss this as cow flaming or fanboyism if you want but the facts are the Epic games president did make those comments and the Wii is not being taken seriously by Developers who want to develop next gen games like Resident Evil 5, Grand Theft Auto IV and many other titles that are listed in the preview sections of both magazines and websites to be released on only the PS3 and 360, and those are the titles that sell...period.

PS3nut

Sorry but no developer actually feels this way.

Epic is NOT primarily a game developer. They make the majority of their money selling their game engine to other developers. They create games like UT and GeOW in order to show off their engine and convince other developers to shell out the massive license fees to use it.

Epic does NOT make their money from gamers. They make their money from engine license fees.

Of COURSE they are going to bash the Wii because if developers turn away from buying expensive top of the line engines and focus on less high tech games - Epic loses money!!!

Sorry, but your post fails on every level. Learn how the industry works before talking about developers 'feelings'.

WiiFit will sell like crazy. I know plenty of peoples parents who bought Wii for 'excercise'. The potential audience is huge...........
