if Sony died some other company would come in and take their place, just like when Atari died, just like when Sega died and Sony/MS stepped in

Nintendo is saving the industry by reminding it that people want games that are GAMES.

Not everyone is a 'hardcore' gamer (btw, lol x 1000), some people just want to relax and have fun i.e. play a GAME.

Remember folks, they are called video GAMES not "video life-replacements", many people just want a fun diversion, not a two month long commitment.

MS and Sony forgot that and targeted their products towards 14-16 year olds with awesome 'high-tech' specs and 'edgy' 'hardcore' games, which amounts to, lets be honest, a bunch of pointless d*ck waving.

Nintendo remembered that gaming is supposed to be about fun first and foremost and being super l33t a far distant second.

[QUOTE="GoldenEye005"]We have Resistance that is a great enough game that can be called killer app. Not here in Gamespot because we both know who runs these forums. It has a good story and great online Hadley any lag and yes we do communicate with a headset.afdevil24

A killer app is one that makes people buy the system just to play it. No one is buying a ps3 just to play Resistance, sorry.

Also, Wii's killer app is Sports. Zelda is a bonus double kill.

zelda's not exclusive :| and wii sports.. don't even get me started on that.

People are buying Wiis just to play Sports. You can hate it as much as you want but it doesn't stop it from being true.

Nintendo is going to do 4 things:

1) Release Sonic vs. Mario Olympics aka Wii Sports 2 during the holiday season.

2) Continue to make money off of the VC. Those same 'casuals' who fall under the 'haven't gamed in 10 years' category love replaying the games from their childhood, even if no new Wii games come out at all the VC will still make money.

3) Roll around in their giant pile of cash for a while.

4) Release Wii 2, this time with beefed up graphics. Since they will be the market leader, that type of investment will be much less of risk this time around. People have shown they are willing to buy Nintendo again. Also, theres no need to support the Wii for 10 years the way Sony has too for the PS3 to avoid going bankrupt, and they have a huge R&D budget from the Wii's success.

Trust me, Nintendo isn't scared in the slightest.

My last console was a PS2 and honestly before it broke completely I didnt even use it more than a couple times a month any more.

I use the Wii every day. It brought me back, can't speak for anyone else though...

1. When did you purchase it? How many were available where you purchased it at that time?

In February. I think they got around 70 that day but I'd already been checking for 3 weeks prior so I can't imagine they lasted long (I live in NYC)

2. About how many times have you noticed a store sold out of the Wii?

Always. I started looking for mine around Christmas, took me until Feb. to be in the right place at the right time (didn't want to camp or ebay etc.) I helped look for a friend afterwards, took another month to find one at all (except for ones that were jacked up to $400+)

3. What made you choose the Wii?

Motion control, Nintendo IP's and backwards compatability

4. What was your first non-VC game purchase?

Super Monkey Ball

5. Do you use the VC?

One game (Super Mario Bros.) Definitely plan on getting more when I'm done with my current games though, already know a few I want

6. What was your most recent non-VC game purchase?

Super Paper Mario

7. Do you also own either an X360 or a PS3? (or both)

No. I guess I'm older now, 'hardcore' gaming just doesn't really appeal to me the way it used to

8. If you own more than one console besides the Wii, which one do you use more often?

N/A. (Shooters on the PC sometimes. I used to clan but I'm much more casual with it these days)

9. Do you still play any Gamecube games on the Wii?

Never had a Gamecube, but I just ordered my first GC games off of Amazon actually (SPM and Metroid Prime) - so I suppose thats a yes.

10. How many non-VC Wii games do you own?

5 including Sports: Z:TP, Monkey Ball, Wario, SPM and Sports

11. How many VC games do you own?

One (Mario Bros)

12. Overall, how satisfied are you with the Wii so far?

100/10. Its fun as hell solo or multiplayer. All of my friends enjoy it regardless if are gamers or not and I even use it to check the news and weather some times :)

13. Did you buy the Wii for a game that was available at launch or shortly after, or did you buy it in anticipation of a later title?

I bought it for Sports and Z:TP, also anticipation of Nintendo franchises and also for the Gamecube library (which I suppose was available at time of launch).
