Have you ever 'forced yourself' to play or to continue to play game

and why?

I have heard of people doing this but i didnt get the opportunity to explore why they would do such a thing

I have most definitely done this!

Most recently I did it with The Witcher 3 and Fallout 4. The latter hurt me the most because I was a fan of the series but this one is just so repetitive I had to force myself to get through it...and even then I havent finished it.

The same goes for TW3, which is a gorgeous game and even with its average action mechanics it is fun to play...but it takes up so much time. An average side quest can take upwards of 90s minutes and I just don't have the time to play through it, although recently I forced myself to spend a solid 4 hours going through it. It was odd because I had forgotten so much of the game, controls and methods.

So I'm finally playing MGSV since it was free on PS Plus. Call me crazy, but the only MGS game I completed before this one (not counting Ground Zeroes) is 4 and I loved it. Sure, I didn't really understand the context of what was going on, but I had a blast with it back in like 2009 when there was nothing to play on the PS3. I've played bits of 2 and 3 and intend to someday play through the series but for now, I'm playing 5.

The game starts off with the most cinematic sequence I've maybe ever played through with hospital scene, then I'm dumped in the middle of Afghanistan and told to do a bunch of busy work missions. The game has great gameplay and I love picking up those 80's cassettes but the stealth infiltration has gotten old already and I'm only like 15 hours in. I do all the missions they give me plus the side ops stuff but it's all feeling so repetitive.

So my question is, does the game ever reach the heights of the opening again in terms of storytelling and presentation or is it more of the same? And yes, I'm well aware that it's an unfinished game because of the Konami/Kojima feud.

Honestly, the first 5-6 hours of the game is best, beyond that it's not good enough.

As I'm sure you have heard, the story is pointless and has no true ending (I won't deliver any spoilers). Supposedly that was down KOnami v Kojima but who knows.

The gameplay is very repetitive and at one stage you will have to replay all your previous missions...I mean how cheap a tactic is that to prolong gameplay hours??

Worst MGS ever.

I'm trying to think back to playing western rpgs on the PS1 and realise that I did not play any. That was the peak of the jrpg (including the PS2 era), and if you wanted top wrpgs, you would have to go to the PC.

It will release in 2020, I'm pretty sure of it. This is going off of the way the industry is headed, what with the Pro a year plus into its release, the increased talk of 4K and VR etc etc

PS5 is obviously going to be native 4K, it will have a 4K disc player and be increasingly positioned towards VR. All that indicates another 1+ year of this current gen life cycle.

The DMC series, even the underrated reboot. For me, DMC 3 is/was the best and its combination of handheld and ranged weapons was awesome. I think the developers just struck the perfect balance.

GoW obviously! For those who arent that good, they can button mash their way through the easy setting but turn it up and things get a lot more tactical. Plus I love melee combat with pace and am not a fan of the slow, lethargic way of doing things seen in the Dark series.

Also, I don't think people should forget the sheer pace and fun of Viewtiful Joe (those of us in our mid to late 20s probably remember).

Yeah, its a pretty rubbish piece of hardware for the price and lets be honest, Nintendo has been geared towards childish games for 25+ years now. It's kinda creepy how hardcore a lot of their adult fans are, especially the Japanese BUT it's their prerogative, I wouldn't buy it but let them waste their money.
