Planning on holding out a bit longer. Maybe Ryzen+, maybe Cannonlake-X. We'll see.

5th gen would take a lot of work to get the games looking decent at higher resolutions. 6th gen, on the other hand, is ripe for HD remakes and more worthwhile than remastering 7th gen games, imo,
Binge. I haven't watched an anime as it was airing since... Yu Yu Hakusho on Toonami in 2004, I think. Will probably watch Attack on Titan Season 2 as it's airing though.
Price is totally reasonable. Inflation adjusted, it's $3 more than the Wii. They should have packed in 1 2 Switch or ARMS though.
Power doesn't matter. If I wanted a powerful system I would play my PC. I find even the Wii U to be adequately powerful most of the time.
My biggest issue with it is paid online. I really like Splatoon, but I don't know if I can justify paying for online just for that. I already have MK8 on Wii U, so that's not really a selling point. I don't even pay for PS+ anymore. If it's $20/yr I guess that's not so bad though.
Whether I get one close to launch is entirely dependant on how much better Zelda is on the Switch than on the Wii U. I can live with 720p vs. 900p, but if the frame drops from last E3 haven't been sorted out I'll be very tempted to get a Switch.
A Link Between Worlds is phenomenal, easily my favorite 2D Zelda.
Fire Emblem Awakening is great, my most played 3DS game.
Rune Factory 4, I haven't played personally, but it's my sister's most played 3DS game. Will borrow from her some time. I think the consensus is that it's better than Fantasy Life.
Persona Q is really good if you've played 3 and/or 4.
Look at the Shin Megami Tensei games (there are quite a few on 3DS) and see if any pique your interest.
Not a chance in hell.
bethesda [...] don't make huge world maps
They made the biggest map, and it perfectly illustrates why they don't anymore. It's tough to populate a gigantic map with interesting, unique content. Morrowind's map is vastly smaller than Daggerfall, but it's much more interesting. It's also smaller than Oblivion and Skyrim, and it's more interesting then them, too.
Another example, I think Batman: Arkham Asylum has the best map in the Arkham series, despite being the smallest by far. It's not the size of the map, it's what you fill it with.
I wish Obsidian could give TES the New Vegas treatment. They could do wonderful things with it. Certainly more than modern Bethesda can. And put Michael Kirkbride in charge of writing it.
Star Citizen is pretty much exactly a dream game of mine, specifically the multi-crew ships. Hope it turns out well.
Okami 2. Capcom please, Kamiya wants to do it.
It will be a Switch mini without the JoyCons.
