[QUOTE="alexwatchtower"]This argument of $5 mic can do everythign is just plain ignorant and needs to stop. Yeah Kinect was $150 and MS invested millions into tech anyone could do with a $5 micBlack_Knight_00
What the hell? Kinect voice recognition works via a simple built-in multi-array microphone akin to those found in camcorders. The only difference from headset mics is those are designed to have a limited field, because you keep them close to your mouth. You need to understand what voice commands are, dude, it's not black magic.

Except the Kinect doesn't work like a simple $5 mic. That $5 mic would require the console to handle the work of processing what is said and translating it into system or game inputs. The Kinect handles this workload entirely on its own. This method saves system resources and makes the feature much more reliable than a $5 mic solution can. Everything the Kinect does is handled by the Kinect itself. Its designed to be an elaborate controller input without wasting system resources. While I have no interest in the Xbox One, it just amazes me how many people are slamming the Kinect as some sort of glorified web cam and mic when they have no idea how the actual hardware works. Its a cheaper and more elegant way to integrate the features the Kinect provides.

BC is a really big deal for me. My PS3 has seen more PSone and PS2 games played in it than PS3. I mainly use my WiiU for VC and Wii games. My Vita often sees PSone and PSP games played on it. And my 3DS also sees DS games booted up on it. BC is a great feature to me. Plus it helps the early growing pains of a new console ny giving gamers more options and reasons to turn on the unit.

Look closer at that reflection. Those bricks are on the side of the road. You can also see the actual road also reflected in that shot. The effect is properly reflecting the environment around it. Dunno if its ingame or not, but the effect is proper.

[QUOTE="N3MO"]My mind is blown. Microsoft just laid Sony a golden egg. Will Sony make it to the finish line with the egg intact or will they trip and smash it before they get there? I don't think I can handle both of them making moves like this. syztem

Publishers won't allow only one of them to make these moves. Even if Sony doesn't have it built into the hardware like MS (which still remains to be seen), publishers will find a way to enforce it from their end. The question is: did Microsoft just justify it for them, or was it going to happen all along regardless?

Sony already mentioned that stuff like this is left up to the publisher. I think MS is doing this to get the entire cut of the used game market for the Xbox One. Can't say that is entirely wrong but this method limits how customers can use their games. Its an anti-costumer move through and through.

I do find the Kinect complaints funny as they gloss over the fact that Sony has the same requirement with the PS4.

That development muscle could have gone into any number of things that fans of the series would appreciate more. The multi-player of this game (unless something miraculous happens) will be dead within a few weeks. Having the developers create some challenge rooms or something would have added more value. The multi-player may not have come at the cost of single-player content, but as has been pointed out, its still resources poured into the game that could have gone somewhere where it would have been appreciated. Now if the multi-player was some form of co-op with special puzzles or something that it would be different, but this looks like standard deathmatch fare.Articuno76

The main game already has something along the lines of Challenge Rooms hidden throughout the island. And the resources used on multiplayer were only gained because CD pitched the idea for it late in development. Otherwise we would have gotten the same single player game we are already getting, just no multiplayer mode. Multiplayer was CD's idea from the begining, but they didn't want to add it if it would have any effect on the creation of the core game. Something they have made very clear since they revealed multiplayer.

I think it looks outstanding. Would've been a defiite purchase before they shoehorned multiplayer into it. Now it's the best rental I'll make this year.

I would normally groan at tacked on multuplayer. But CD isn't shoehorning it in. They gave it to an entirely different development team to create while they focused on the core of the game. So nothing is lost or effected by the inclusion of it. Just an extra feature on the disc you can completely ignore if one so desires.
