Man, everybody complaining that they need to go to a 100 point scale really don't get it. They just got away from the 100 point scale...it was just in decimal form before. It was dumb. It was trivial trying to split a game between a 8.6 and an 8.7...it's the same as giving a game a 86 or an 87. I'm glad they are simplifying it. The decimal point system is trivial. Even then, the score is just there to appease the people that are too lazy to read. If it bothers you that much to see a score go to whole numbers, then there are plenty of sites out there that have meaningless decimal point systems for you to drool over. The rest of us will stick to reading information about the games.chicknfeet
The original 100 point system held more weight and meaning behind it. The final score wasn't given out by the reviewer but what they rated each category of the game. The reviewer would put in score in like 4 or 5 categories such as game play and graphics on a 1-10 scale. The weight of each category was not equal. One point in game play weighed more than 1 in graphics for example. The total of all the categories is what gave a game its score. For a numbered review system it was by far the best IMO. That was also back in a time when really passionate people were running the site. GameSpot used to have a rep for doing their own thing and doing it well. Now its just another gaming site with no identity.

There is a rumor in a Japanese newspaper that Sony is about to unveil a redesigned Vita with a larger screen :o and double the RAM (though the only thing what will benefit from the doubled RAM is apps, so all games will be compatible will all Vitas). Credit for the find to the Neogaf.

The problem with the Vita isn't the hardware. Its the price of it and the memory cards. And the lack of games in the west is also an issue. Releasing a Vita with a bigger screen and more RAM for apps isn't going to do much in the West, unless price cuts also come with the introduction of the new hardware.

I find it funny that this game is getting ragged on for being faithful to the original game. From the game play to the level design. WayFoward managed to replicate the original experience perfectly. I got both the WiiU and PS3 versions of the game. I give the WiiU an edge over the PS3 version due to the weird timing the analog face buttons cause for the Pogo Jump when you enable Hard Pogo. Otherwise I am loving the hell out of the game. Its a faithful remaster of a classic I always enjoyed.

[QUOTE="syztem"]

Just picked up the bones of a Japanese player... level 94 Fighter.

CarnageHeart
I could use that guy. Just made it to the b side and went to the forest. I didn't win against the vicious boss, but I survived and then went to the pirate cove. My buddy the thief took my bones back to the temple...

Recruiting him on Normal will scale his base stats back what they were at level 35. But equipment stats and skills are unphased by it. Its the same if you switch from a higher difficulty and switch back to normal and you are past the level cap. I highly recommend that you save him for the final battle.

The PS3 and Vita versions are identical. I have played through most of the game in both versions. I can count on one hand how many times the frame rate got a bit dicey in the Vita version. It was never game breaking and lasted a couple seconds. And the use of the touch screen is wonderful in the Vita version. Really really enjoying the game.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Capcom stopped being Capcom when Inafune left and the decline began when Kamiya, Mikami, and Inaba left. What we have now is a sad, evil approximation of Capcom.famicommander
Capcom stopped being Capcom before he left. I love Inafune for what he brought to the industry in the past. Current Inafune has me torn about him. I both agree and disagree with him on the current state of Japanese game development and how they should address it. His mindset is also what helped influence Capcom to make some of the blunders they have had this generation. They changed way too much this generation when all they really needed was to evolve. They needed to keep game development in house rather than farming them out to Western developers. They let too much talent get away from them. They lost sight of what made their franchises successful. And instead of reflecting on what they have been doing wrong, they point their finger at the fans and blame them.

I hate gaming site trends. "Some offensive and unavoidable character designs" Can we see a review that doesn't mention this? Reviewers act like no game before DC had designs like it.

Uh...ouch. :|

I tend to find Polygon's reviews to be overall terrible.
