and to that i said "good. as well you should."

Then what does this mean
"you think somebody can't recognize a winner yet still like something else better?"

Casey cleverly avoided that.

Yep. I've noticed the hermits have been falling apart on logic lately. vandalvideo has had the most meltdown lately, but Casey's logic is really falling apart as of late.

Where's your proof that the game system with the most sales will not always win?

Also, are you suggesting that the system with the best games will always win?

if gamers buy a system for the games, games should be what determines the winner. you can still recognize a winner yet not agree with it.

So if a system has the best game ever on earth. Everyone buys it and it's pretty much the only thing they play. Since most the planet bought it and only played this one game...which system wins? The system that sold 1million units but has 3 AAA games or the system that sold 1 Billion units and only one game?

dunno.

Well one would think you'd vote for the system wiht the most AAA games. Sure one could argue that, but obviously you now see that sales DO matter and can be a fact for winning in its own right.

I think that's a question you have to ask yourself as a gamer.

I'd agree. But (if I understand his argument) casey says the system with 3 AAA games on it. Even if all three of those games were able to be beaten with rental time period. And the system that sold 1000 times more and only sold 1 game but everyone played it all the time would be at best 2nd place.

So did Casey just own himself or what?

CaseyWegner

you think somebody can't recognize a winner yet still like something else better?

But he said the following:

Pfft. I'm a gamer, and I choose which console wins based on personal preference/most fun had with a console.

Not amounts of AAAs nor amounts of sales nor color or whatever

and to that i said "good. as well you should."

You bought into his strawman. Just swap it on him. And say EXACTLY. Runs = Sales. And hits = AAA Games.

CaseyWegner

except it doesn't work that way. the team with the most runs will always win. the game system with the most sales will not always win. (everybody here has been saying that the point of sales is getting games)runs can not equal games.

Sure it can and not everyone says that. So in your mind I'm sure you didn't realize your example was so extremely weak. And to be fair, I'm sure MS, Sony, and Ninty all think SALES matter most. Without sales of consoles and games they lose...it wouldn't matter if the wii had 10 AAAE games right now and only sold 100 consoles. Those 10 games would be enjoyed by 100 people. And ninty would stop selling it.

Sales is the big enchillada here. To ignore that is to ignore reality.

is a game of baseball decided by how many runs are scored or by how many hits there are in a game?

LosDaddie

Don't go off-topic now, Mr. Mod. ;)

How about you answer the part he quoted?

i am.

You answer a question with a question??

Come on, I know you're better than that, Casey. Again, these little games you like to play are useless on me

If you really want an answer: A team won't get runs without the hits. Therefore, a baseball game will be decided on the result of a team's hits.

You bought into his strawman. Just swap it on him. And say EXACTLY. Runs = Sales. And hits = AAA Games.

Class is now in session. Casey's orginal poll that many or most thought was a weak strawman that would ONLY result in Games being selected as the winner is the one that counts. It wasn't broken, because it was creatd by Casey and his outcome won.

The poll started by Cake was also just as fair as the first poll, but since teh outcome didn't reflect games as the winner it was obviously flawed because everyone knows there can be only one right answer.

Did I get that right? Or is there another reason why the 2nd poll was flawed and the first one wasn't?

DireToad

You're really not getting it are you?

The first poll was fine because it had two simple outcomes.
Either Games or Sales. Games won.

Now the second poll, which was really how to go about deciding what games counted, was not fair. It had 3 separate outcomes for games and 1 outcome that combined sales and "nothing". How do you not see the error in that?
Basically, everybody that voted for games in the first poll were divided in 3 groups, and the people who voted for sales and the people who were now voting for "nothing" were put together. It's quite simle actually.

Now the new poll is basically the first poll with the added option of nothing from the get-go.

So only 2 choices are the only fair way to vote? And the setup to both of those choices was so loaded only one choice was viable.

The first poll read something like this.

We must have this vote. Please choose which one you think we should use?
1) Sales, which is impossible to use as there's no way to be sure who truly wins. So don't even bother voting for this.
2) Games, which is what really matters here and to choose anything else means you're an idiot.

Don't even dream about any other options....these are the ONLY options you have. 1) You're an idiot or 2) you're a genius. Please vote now.

Yeah, that's real fair.

how so? I see some random questions about baseball and how you decide who wins a baseball game. What does runs have to do with sales. One that believed sales was the most important would think runs = sales. but I guess you thought only way to interpret that is runs = great Games.

In fact, it makes more sense to say sales==runs. And AAA games are hits or homeruns that lead to a victory in sales.
