At your resolution only having 256of vram shouldn't matter. I think Nvidia will release their next high end cards in March or so and you can expect appropriate price drops. As far as image quality goes if you enable the highest image quality in nvidia control panel it should look as good as ati albeit with a slight performance hit.

When running at higher speeds processors and graphics cards generate more heat, and are more liable to make mistakes.

If you haven't fixed the 8800GTs default fan speed, I would download rivatuner and see if that helps.

[QUOTE="meggido"]After googling it, it seems it's a problem with master/slave settings. Try setting the dvd drive to slave and the hard drive to master.manic111

I currently have my HDD as primary master, my DVD drive as secondary master and my CDRW drive as secondary slave. How do I change these? I found the information in the BIOS, but couldnt work out how to swap them around. Or do I need to do it by hand?

IDE devices have jumpers which according to placement choose master, slave, or cable select. I would unplug the dvd drive you are not using and make sure that the hard drive is master and your other cd/dvd drive is slave. There should be a little diagram on the top of the drive, and tweezers help.

It's a very good card for it's price, especially if you can get it for $250. :)

If you are only gaming at 1280x1024 I would consider getting the 256mb version though.

Metronome was cancelled. :(

It had quite an interesting premise.

As long as it's not implemented intrusively and contains something in a relevant context, I'm fine with it. I don't like the idea of paying the full price of a game and having to experience ridiculous amounts of advertising though. I liked Ubisofts idea of releasing old games for free but payed for by in game advertising. I got my copy of Far Cry that way and the 15 second mcdonald's ads that played every time you died could be avoided.

Here's a couple other sites for ordering computer parts in Canada.

Last one is if you're looking for good deals on anything. :)

Take newegg reviews with a grain of salt. I generally just use them to gauge overall product reliability. :)
