VR is picking up pace in the recent years. And I do see it expanding from here. But to evolve to a point where we cannot differentiate between reality and virtual reality.. Now that has a long way to go.

As far as diminishing human interactions go, we don't need VR for that. Current gen tech is good for it. Always has been.

From what I can see so far Wolfenstein looks engaging. It seems strong on both, story and game-play.

This could be the re-birth of old school first person shooters that get you sweaty by the last boss battle.
