My opinion of this is the same as of the Wii. Its a gimic. If the joke ever becomes reality I probably won't buy it. The only reason I would, is as a gimic to get my wife more interested in video games.

It would be nice if there was an advanced user search feature that allows you to look here on gamspot for your friends from Xbox Live (or from the PS3 and Wii equivalents for that matter) that may have a Gamespot account.

Thank you for your consideration.

I suggest getting the Xbox Live card at NewEgg. They will have better prices, even with the shipping it is cheaper than at Best Buy et al.

Also, you should get a version that has a harddrive. It is really usefull for downloading demos, extra content for games such as extra maps, etc.

I have noticed (or at least suspected) my 360 was doing the same thing. So far though it hasn't rendered any games unplayable.

There are a number of XBLA games that are fun. Some suggestions for your consideration:

1. Ultra Marble Blast is a fun little game. I believe it is on sale or is going on sale soon. It has decent multiplayer.

2. A social card game like Hardwood Spades or Hardwood Hearts. The coversations you have with other players are often as entertaining and colorful as the game itself.

3. A strategy board game such as Catan or Carrcassonne.

4. If you can remember the early 80's, consider getting coin op. game to relive your old arcade glories. :)

Good luck!

P.S. I suppose you could do something selfless with the points. I am not sure how you could actually give it to the homeless, but you could offer to download a movie or TV show for someone. (parents, wife, girlfriend, roomate, etc.).

Xbox Live is totally worth it, particulary in the Xbox 360 era. There are so many features. I consider the $50 for live to be well spent.

In fairness, I haven't tried sony's version of live. But as in most things I would suspect its a case of you get what you pay for.

Xbox live is extremely well done. Lots of trials for games, downloadable extra content, integrated connections with other players, contests, acheivement points, and download movies and tv shows. This really sets it apart from the others.

There are some solid games for the system.

Personally, I really like PC for strategy games and the 360 for fps and sports.

I highly recommend it. I might wait a few months though to see if an internal blue ray version will released. Otherwise, go get yourself an elite. At a minimum, get a version with a harddrive. Its worth it.

Both are very good.

I agree it seems like there is overall more to do in Oblivion, but I think the first play through on Mass Effect is better. Although there are less quests in ME, the interaction with the NPCs is better I think. Better storry line in ME as well.

If you can afford it, I'd get both, especially if you like RPGs.
