@VulcanHades @jharring To be fair I can't think of very much that's as good as Dark Souls 1's level design. Consistently mindblowing, at least for the first 2/3 or so.

In related news: Dark Souls II is still GOTY, after fending off overhyped wannabes like Titanfail, Botch Dogs, and now Destinope.

And this is why I don't understand the whole "game reviewers are paid off" conspiracy. The GameRankings average for this game is about 75. Plenty of reviewers are coming out and telling the truth, even if it probably upsets Activision and Bungie. It may have taken them a few days to do so, but that's because they weren't given review copies ahead of time. People who are going to run out and buy it the first day aren't paying attention to reviews anyway.

Kevin = RPG Sage/Poet...your words always transport me into whatever realm you're discussing. I'm tempted to buy this right away!

Well I got 1 out of 4 because I bought Dark Souls II right away and played only that over the next two months (91 hours worth). But, you know, this video is kind of weird to me because it's not like there's some race going on that I have to keep up with. Watch Dogs and South Park are either at or close to full price right now, so why would I bother? I already just bought 30 other games on sale on Steam! Some were indies, some are a few years old, and some are actually a year or less old but still under $10.

You know what else I'm playing right now? Ys. Like, the 1st one. Granted it's the 2008 DS remake, but it's a game with design circa 1990. I mean, there's no hurry. >_>

I'm a Nintendo fan and I think it's rather absurd when people dismiss all Mario and Zelda games as samey and lacking ideas, but I'm a little disheartened by the people suggesting that there's nothing but brown, serious shooters on other platforms. The Souls games? Borderlands (highly colorful, not serious)? Skyrim? All the indies? Broad generalizations don't seem very helpful, on either side.

There's good games to be found all around.
