The new Hitman trilogy bodies the old games so badly it isn’t even close. Only cup would pretend otherwise for some dork ass reason.

Love the Ori games, not impressed by what I’ve seen so far. I’m sure it’s gonna be legit tho.

. heat smashes/rage arts can still be blocked so no biggie,

What? Thats missing the point. Of course it can be blocked, at the bare minimum it should be negative.

The issue with rage art being an instant activation armor move, is that with a life lead it forces the player who has won neutral more often to build the lead to be extra cautious with how he runs his offense, because of the concern of being robbed out right by a comeback super. It's exact problem a modern input super adds to Street Fighter, you don't have to input anything. No execution necessary, you just react, have enough health, and send it. Which is conan's point.

Heat smashes being safe on block and in a lot of case PLUS is the problem. It generally does a lot of damage, if not insane chip damage. It's value isn't even in combos, that at least requires you to launch, and even then if you activate heat in a combo, you have much better combo enders with heat. The problem is that while it isn't an obvious neutral skip, we're seeing how it does by pass neutral as well. Activate heat, use one of your farther reaching heat engager like moves which now reaches without the downside of being negative/punishable, you heat dash in, and now you mix. It's basically saved by the fact that to mix in tekken, generally, generally requires some risk, and that said decision is at least spending all your heat.

My roommate is into fighting games and he was sort of explaining how folks were disappointed in the latest Street Fighter. He sort of talked about how there's artificial delay/input into the game so people playing on the internet have equal footing as well and how that is sort of a hot topic.

Your roommate is capping and providing some premium scrub talk. It's far from a disappointing game, it's one of the more loved entries already in its vanilla version, for a series taht periodically gets stronger as it gets updated.

Even their description of how the input system is flawed is wrong. Has nothing to do with putting people on equal footing lol.

Street Fighter 6 or King of Fighters 15, early days for Tekken 8. Not feeling the heat system, find it mad scrubby right now, tho I appreciate the buffed up Nina.

SF6's systems forward direction I'm a big fan of and I think is only a few tweaks from being pristine. I don't got a problem with throw loops, for starters they don't build stun like they did in 5, teching a throw pushes you way further apart, and you have all sorts of wake up reversals options and an easy as **** parry option (with tap parry working double duty on making perfect parry more attainable). Some of you don't play Guilty Gear (except cup who likes shitty ass strive), but the system is presented so you have to make an active decision on defense.

Taking the throw shouldn't necessarily be a reprieve from more pressure, and the parry system keeps any sort of meaty pressure offense in check. Drive rush cancels gives a lot of fun combo routes, I am not a fan of raw drive rush in neutral, it is however checkable for most of the roster, the more annoying ones like DJ, Juri, Ken, JP, Luke, yeah those gotta be nerfed in some manner given their return. Taking normals on blocks takes from your drive gauge, and burning people out lets you do more pressure to them and checkmate in the corner with DI if they don't got super, DI lets characters have some cracked buttons for footsies (bye bye to some of the stubby shits in 5), to keep some cracked uncancellable buttons in check.

The game could still use some tweaks (character specific nerfs to luke, jp n crew), raw drive rush needs some dialing back, I'd like the damage to drop off as well while still maintaining all the combo routes we have. But as is it's an extremely balanced fighting game for a vanilla version. The game boasts like 8 characters that could all be viable top tiers, with characters like Marisa, Blanka, and Rashid not being top tier and menaces in their own right. Considering they turned SFV around, and 4 around, and 3 around into much better games, sky is the limit for where they end up with 6.

The lone downside is I would like the design philosophy of SF6 to be influential which is characters having a lot of tools and the game being a systems heavy game at its core that reward shit like whiff punishing, and active decision making n shit. And what I think it's actual influence is gonna be along with some assist from DBFZ success with super dash, is the raw neutral skip systems mechanic that leads to a mix up. So that's a bummer.

King of Fighters 15 is straight up great. Before this advancing strike shit, the game didn't have a neutral skip into forced interaction mechanic, it's played at a fast paced, it makes sound incremental improvements on KOF14, instead of throwing shit out the window just for a new entry, KOF's brand of movement is still sick as over. It's tight.

It's been a good gen for fighting games, Under Night 2 being a bit of a misnomer aside, seems legit too.

Mortal Kombat is trash, nRS in general is trash. Always.

Guilty Gear used to be a better fighting game, then strive came along.

Type Lumina is a bit disappointing for what could have been a banger.

Hopefully The new Garou is legit.

As for the douchy SW convo: There is no conversation to be had that the PC is the better platform for any fighting game with an active community, be it SF5 or 6. You deal with less input lag both natively on the game and on a monitor. It's not a shocker that SF6s leaderboard is all actual top players and not rando online warriors ,because the MR system is a straight up you gotta be a beast to climb that high.

Tekkens leaderboard and the old SF LP system, can be padded on pure playtime. But getting to 2000+ MR? You aint doing that on just raw hour count. So it's a flawed metric to even be comparing. Now the lower ranks and shit, that stuff is handled a bit better in V, pretty much all the ranks below master are fraud territory. You at least had to get to the high ranks in SFV, even if the top top top end of the leaderboard misleading as ****. But it gave a bit more merit to the some of the middle to higher tier ranks. It wasn't warlord or bust. SF6 is master of you a fraud.

>there isn't gimmicky stuff

>game has the heat system

Looking forward to how someone who doesn't play Tekken explain how heat works is true to Tekken actually.
