I prefer Have a pleasant Bohdi or Happy Yalda but in a pinch Happy Holidays will do and that expression has been in use in North America since at least the 30s.
My Grandparents said Happy Holidays at times and the expression is on some of the old Christmas Cards.
I don't understand why so many Christians have gotten so militant.
In fact I don't understand many (maybe most) Christians at all.
It was back in the early 70s when the "Black Jesus and Black Santa" first got start big and I worked with a guy named Nakamura who assured me that both Jesus and Santa were yellow.
He should know since his family lost everything they had when his parents got sent to a concentration camp by the American government during WW2 so did some German Americans. thousands got shut away for a few years just on the off chance that a few might harbour seditious thoughts.
some years later I spent time in Korea and came to the conclusion that Santa really is Yellow
try Buddhism, you are not required to worship any of the mythical deities.
All the gods are considered real by some people and mythical by others but none are considered to be
the "one and only" by everyone or even a majority so why do people still try and tell the rest of us that they have the one, true way.
if you are not judgmental you have less chance of being judged but never forget that some people will always judge you because they can not conceive of ever being incorrect and I'm sure we all know or are related to someone like that.
a couple years ago I had corn bread, collard greens, black beans, and fried chicken for Christmas dinner which was an improvement over the Turkey TV dinners when I was single in two room apartment off base.
