@Villimax @IAMTYLERDURDEN Look, what I meant by that is you can talk about performance as an objective, sure, but then what about other things in the game? What about its tone? What about its narrative? What about its style? Those are more subjective and just asking for purely "objective" reviews will miss out a lot of information about what makes a game special. That's what I'm saying.

@Villimax @IAMTYLERDURDEN Maybe they should get people more acclimatised to the specific genre of a game do that review. It doesn't stop the fact that reviews are biased. It's just that when there is a game-reviewer mismatch, there will be a greater show of this bias, as you have clearly pointed out here.

@Villimax @IAMTYLERDURDEN The problem there is that a person's interpretation of what is good and what is bad about a game is subjective, unless you want to get into things like how well a game holds its frame rate, the quality of its textures, whether or not there is any input latency, and such. As a result, less concrete qualities of a game won't really get a mention.

@Villimax @IAMTYLERDURDEN I'm not sure how much individual reviewers here hold to the standards, but Gamespot as a whole has mentioned that games cannot be compared based on score alone. Kinectimals getting a 7.5 doesn't reflect that it is necessarily a better game than another game as much as it reflects it is a good product for what it is, a distraction for children.

@Villimax @nyran125 The first God of War was an interesting take on Greek mythology, shaped in the form of a Greek tragedy. The latter games have gone more and more off the rails in terms of what's actually going on. The 13 year old demographic is starting to make sense there.

@IAMTYLERDURDEN @Villimax If you do not acknowledge that everyone has bias, perhaps you should consider that every human being has their own frame of reference, their own tastes, their own history leading up to the current moment that influences the way they interpret and critique things. Every review is biased. Some reviews are easier to digest by consumers than others.

@Villimax @fog90 If it was the stuff about incivility, I think it was directed a bit more at fog90. What I am getting at is being civil will likely get more people to consider your points than get defensive and write you off before considering what you have to say. Sorry if my comments are misdirected.

@Villimax @IAMTYLERDURDEN I've a feeling if we look inside the Japanese market we'll see a lot more sameyness from Japanese developers. Not all of their games get released to other markets.Also what's your opinion on Dragon's Dogma? I'm considering picking it up when I have the time.

@Villimax @fog90 Leave your comment here making it clear exactly what your opinion of the game, its mechanics and your opinion's clashes with the reviewer's. Leave a user review. Take it to the discussion boards, like comments that are equivalent to your opinion. Better yet, like those that agree with you but are civil and make it clear what are the good parts of the game. Incivility is something we need to leave behind if we are trying to have a serious discussion about games and their merits.
