This game is absolutely amazing. I finished Portal (here's hoping to some downloadable content soon :) - I might even have to buy it on the PC to get some user-created content) and I just got the gravity gun in Half-Life 2, which just might be the coolest gun (besides the portal gun) to ever exist in a video game. Team Fortress 2 also rocks; it's one heck of a multiplayer game. I haven't noticed a single balancing problem yet.
For all of the PC gamers out there who like to bash Halo, why don't you consider this for a second. Halo isn't a PC FPS (except for the ported versions) and shouldn't be rated on PC standards. Halo: CE showed how an FPS could be done right on consoles. Halo 2 set the standard for online multiplayer on consoles. Halo 3 has once again pushed online to it's full potential and has set the bar for every other competitive online console game (anybody who disagrees with that, show me a game that does it better). Not to mention the game just has fan appeal. This game didn't sell millions of copies because it's crap. People buy it because THEY LIKE IT. The bottom line is that people love it, reviewers love it, and it has obviously done a whole lot to push online play forward on consoles. PC gamers, just deal with it.
I would love to play BioShock on the PC, as I just got a new one, but after trying the demo I just can't get it to work. It crashes every time after the into video, no matter how low I set the settings (and of course I can't upgrade my Nvidia drivers, because the driver install can't locate my video card). I've played the 360 demo, and I'm pretty sure I'm just going to rent it. There isn't enough replay value to buy it, and a rental period seems long enough to finish a 20 hour game. I just really want to play this game.
This was a big let down for me. The PSP's size is fine already. The speed boost is probably the only meaningful addition for me, and the fact that your old batteries won't fit kind of sucks. I guess I was just expecting a big redesign like Nintendo is famous for. I was really hoping for better/dual analog sticks, but I guess that will have to wait for the PSP 2 or something.
Woah. I didn't think the graphics were that great, but then I saw the new Red vs Blue video. You can really see the difference in the character models there. Check it out.
I'm sorry, but I could care less about what it looks like. I still play Halo 2, even though the graphics suck compared to current-gen games (including Halo 3). I still play Morrowind, even though the graphics really suck compared to Oblivion. I still played and beat Twilight Princess, even though the graphics were a dissapointment. All of these games have something in common besides inferior graphics. They're freaking amazing. Besides, you guys are acting like Halo 3's graphics are terrible. Sure, they're not exactly up to par (maybe they will be at release), but they're still decent.
The difference in graphics is pretty impressive. I'm buying a new laptop soon, so I'll probably end up getting Vista anyway, so maybe I'll check this out. For some reason, my Halo 2 disk won't work in my 360 anymore. It's saying it's not compatible (which of course it is).
While the Messenger thing looks cool, I have to admit I use AIM, so I don't think I'll be able to fully utilize that feature. Also, I'm kind of disappointed that I'll have to buy a keyboard for my 360 controller. I'm guessing it's going to be at least $30, maybe higher. I just wish Microsoft would add support for normal keyboards. I mean, it already has 2 front USB ports. The downloead thing looks particularly awesome though. I hate having to download during the game, because if I download during the day, I can't play games on Live or else the download stops. Now, to comment on the PS3 vs 360 topic, I think the 360 is definitely going to come out on top. Alyxm1, you can list every feature the PS3 is coming out with and how awesome it is, but it won't change one simple fact: no one WANTS to buy the PS3. Period. No one I have asked has ever even considered it. They just say "No way. I'd rather spend $600 on an iPhone. Did you see that awesome touch screen!?!" People just don't care about all of the PS3's "cool" features. The Wii will probably come in second, simply because of the amount of consoles that are being sold. I think the system needs to come out with some better games though, that don't depend on the console's motion controls. I personally waited 18 hours to be first in line for the Wii, but after I beat Zelda (which took me a good 38 hours), I haven't played it since. I'm really just waiting for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Metroid Prime 3.
I actually just rented this game. It's surprisingly addictive. And really, you get used to the art style after a while. Initially it looks sort of childish, but after playing it a few hours, it sort of grows on you. I'm probably going to end up buying this game, even though I've gotten pretty far into the game already. Just like any sim life game, there's just so much to do in it, even if you "beat" the game.
