My favourite game that is always accused of being a non-game is, without a shadow of doubt, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. To people who say it nothing but cutscenes, I call shenanigans! If you just speed run from checkpoint to checkpoint, or shoot your way through every level, the cinematics outweigh the gameplay- but if you take your time and figure out how to properly use the extremely sophisticated stealth mechanics, the game takes a lot longer and is far more satisfying. Also the story has everything long term Metal Gear fans (up to that point) could have asked for, no narrative stone is left unturned.
A late game revelation made me roll a tear - this was a great experience. Definitely worth playing. I can see why it's polarizing (players who skip past cinematics will not find anything to like about this), but I'm in the pro-Beyond camp for sure.
