meh!

i'm happy with my 2GB 2nd gen ipod nano.

it plays my music.........that's all i want.

i don't need to have internet, or a radio, or even for it to play videoes. i don't need it to be wi-fi compatable, all i want it to do is play a few songs. hell i could care less if it were 1GB, thats still enough room for a good amount of songs. I'm not the kind of person who requires hundreds or thousands of songs, all i need are mabey 20 mabey 30 songs to keep me happy. As far as itunes, its not that difficult, ican still drag and drop like i used to with my psp, i don't have to convert any songs. I've seen people try to sell 40 GB ipods becasue they MUST HAVE a 100+ GB ipod of some other type, its just stupid how some people make it seem like they need millions of GB of storage just to have a "decent" mp3.....it just sickens me.

Yeah , I would have been happy with the 8gb touch because I did'nt need too many songs. But I was bought the 16Gb version anyway :P

ya see, stuff like that is ok. You get a good sized ipod and your happy with it. But when you get an ipod and you MUST have a bigger one with more features....thats just stupid.

He's talking about the 16gb Touch.... it costs $370 whilst the 80gb Zune costs $250. Now who got the better deal?

Besides, thanks to a paypal error I got my Zune for free. I'm winner!

Erm....I have to admit that I wouldn't be chasing after a zune if I only had 20 songs, but that point is that I have 2000, which means that I have no room for podcasts or any sort of expansion on my Zen V Plus.

Call me old school, but I like actual buttons, which the zune has. I hate that touch wheel trash. it takes so long to find a song in your playlist.

And with the zune firmware update, its like having a brand new MP3 player :D

I couldn't agree more. That's why I passed entirely on the Touch. Its new fangled buttonless navigation hasn't sold itself t me.

[QUOTE="Whight_Knight"]Eh ... iTunes is not a "load of bull" ... its the easiest and best music library to use.Niko_Dragaknov

Really? Despite the fact that it hogs PC resources to a silly degree? I've never found it that easy to use, and the store is just mediocre at best.

I should get nimbus from VGN in here, he will rip you a new **** for saying that, he eats people like you for breakfast. And learn your facts before you start bashing iTunes, I've been using it for over 3 years and it has never slowed my computer down. And the store is mediocre? are you ****ing kidding me? iTunes has way more stuff than any other music service out there, and from what I hear the Zune store is a joke compaired to iTunes. I could sit here and rag on the Zune all day, oh I got something, the Zune is a joke compared to the iPod in my opinion it will never be as popular as the iPod, have fun with your iPod ripoff.

3 million songs is nothing if you can't access them. I hate the search function and the layout of the entire thing. I fail to see in what way the Zune is an ipod ripoff. How the hell are they simmilar? Hmmm, maybe its the fact that the Zune is made out of entirely different materials, has a totally different navigation system, has a subscription service available, laser engraving, fm radio, larger screen, unique music layout, wireless syncing, I could go on.

If you want to rag on the Zune, go ahead. Of course it has faults, but then its not as if the iPod is perfect, even if it is the most popular (whatever that prooves).

And by the way, I'm not an apple hater. I own an imac and a vista PC, along with an ipod mini and a nano.

It is inferior because the iPod is much more popular. Popularity taints the Zune's credibility.kylekatarn10

Is that sarcasm? (insert raised eyebrow smiley here)

EDIT: Don't overlook the Zune premium earbuds included in the package either - they save $$$$. The generic ipod buds are so god-awful that they pretty much have to be replaced immediately if you want to avoid bad sound quality, dodgy looks on public transport as your music leaks and getting mugged.

Right then...I've had my Zune 80 for a week now and I'm pretty damn happy with it. I was apprehensive about my purchase at first considering all of the praise that the iPod Classic's been getting lately, but in my opinion the Zune is on par, if not better, than the classic. These are the (pretty major) issues I have with the iPod:

  • IT SCRATCHES SOOO EASILY!!
  • No radio
  • ITunes is a load of bull
  • Whilst simple and stylish, the design is just getting boring
  • Infrequent firmware updates

I guess that the Zune covers its weaknesses then:

  • Aluminium and glass never scratches
  • FM radio
  • Very nice software
  • Design is heavenly. I love the entire square nerdiness of it
  • Good microsoft support for firmware (just look at how they're still supporting the Zune 30)

Only gripe I have is the battery, which is more than enough for my uses but still below the iPod's (although how CNet got 22 hours vs 45 is beyond me - they must have used a 160gb model). Oh yeah, and the lack of bookmarking and video playlists, although I'm sure those issues will be adressed in later updates.

So other than battery life, what the hell does the iPod have on the Zune? What am I missing here? Sure, Apple's money printer may be a style icon, and I was originally a big fan, but the old click-wheel generation are old and stale now. Bring on high-capacity iPod Touches!

BTW, I'm not a MS fanboy trying to push their products. I have nothing to do with the 360.

Could somebody please give me some advice? I'm desperate to take the plunge, but Railroad Tycoon II and III seems so different in many respects that I have no idea (on balance) which is the better.

Thanks guys. Tycoon 2 sounds fun, but I have a few questions on it that have to be settled before I buy it over steam. Do the graphics impede gamplay? Is it too complicated? I'm not looking for insane depth, just good clean fun. If somebody could settle my greivances then I would be very grateful :)

I'm looking for a railroad simulator, which basically gives me 3 choices: Railroad Tycoon 2, 3 or Sid Meiers: Railroads! Could anybody out there give me some advice on which one, by modern standards, is the 'better' game? I'm looking for a complex game, but not fustratingly finnicky and difficult. I also don't want graphics or gameplay that impede the fun of the game, because in the end I only really want a good time.
