@Sohereiam @blackothh Well said, although I am not in favor of DD. I think those who are picture a utopian mecca that simply isn't real.
If Microsoft did anything with X One it was to make that more clear.

@PsyonicPlague I agree.

At first you think "if I played this when it first came out I would have been blown away" then you see that it first came out six months ago and you realize what other games had already come out by then and you go "meh, good, not great."

and then 8 years go by (15 since the original) and you move on.

@Xx_DemonSoul_xX Venture Bros. being the best offering, but so inconsistent to try and watch, metalocalypse took me a while to like but it did grow on me.
But I would love to go back to what they once had, at the end of the day I'm just not a seth mcfarlane fan and that pretty much removes the entire channel from my rotation.

@Solace427 You're not wrong, it's just that you don't expect people to actually do that.

For me I will wait until the price goes down, I'll absorb the inflated price by purchasing the game later.

It all amounts to the same thing, but just look where that has gotten Square soft and Capcom, it's taken them over a decade to realize how much damage resentment does towards a profit margin, and how dangerous it is to erode consumer affection.

Both the previous Batman games have been tremendously popular, so much that this tactic isn't appropriate. However there is enough buy-in that many will go along with it. It has too much potential to backfire, if not on this game then very likely on the sales of the next.

The Catwoman code made sense, it motivated people to buy new.

This is forcing people to pay more, the equivalent of Capcom x Tekken.

Disc Locked Content by any other name is still the same.

I don't mean to be all objectifying or anything,

but apparently Tracy Anderson is hot.

except, when you google her, she apparently doesn't survive the 'close-up' very well.

@cogadh @fadersdream

That could be said for all delivery devices.

Currently a proposed product has all the benefit of rumor driven framework. It could be anything and nothing at the same time.

An actual steam box will allow you to play games which are purchased from Valve, it will have a controller, it will have a visual interface... etc, etc.

it will also draw consumer away from PCs, and potentially consoles by establishing a new market/outlet.

It may do everything or nothing, but just like the xbox did ten years ago it will seem like the answer to many prayers and eventually be what it is... a game playing device with certain options the competition doesn't have, but also lacking other features.
My only point is that once a steambox exists it very well may be to the detriment of PC gamers by drawing gamers away, and becoming reliant on limited hardware, as opposed to being able to coordinate with an upgradable system... although that is a current weakness of steam anyway.
