@DoogyDonDoogy @marcheegsr The makers used that argument, but I honestly don't get it. Their bottom line is how much they make on each game, not how well they compare to another game. I bought the first SR BECAUSE it was a GTA clone, and I enjoyed it enough to continue playing the others. GTA comes out about once every 4-5 years, so it's not like there aren't plenty of people out there looking for similar games to tide them over in between. SR2 seemed to hit the sweet spot between realism and all out fun, at least for me. I liked it a lot more than 3, and unfortunately I have a feeling the trend'll continue.

"They have tied side quests into the world's economy in an improved way in Black Flag (lead designer Sebastien Berton cites Far Cry 3's economy model as a key influence)"

In other words, the economy might actually matter a little for the first third of the game or so, after which you'll probably have more money/supplies than you'll know what to do with. The economy has always been a half-assed add-on in AC. Same as it ever was...

Love this site for the gaming news, but the reviews are just way off sometimes. Fine, the game is a lot like the first one and has a few bugs. But a 4? It's not broken. It's not just a complete money grab (it's even priced lower than most new games). It's not promising something it's not. This is just a really poor assessment. I find myself relying less and less on this site for a true take on new games.

Pretty sure you had the option to switch to 3rd person in Deadly Shadows - didn't really help at all with the gameplay, tho. The absolute best thing about the earlier games being on the PC was being able to download the fan missions. A lot of them were as good or better than the original missions. And unlike current DLC they were all free!

@Hammershock6 @underoath83 Nah, you'd just mistake it for an orangutan's.

@chrispoole16 Agree about the cutscenes. What drives me nuts is that Max switches to a single handgun with every one, regardless of what he's holding beforehand. Sometimes it's not much of an issue, but if it goes right into a scenario where the bad guys are right on top of you it's a pain in the butt. Just idiotic.

Brutal, but it'd be nice to know if it's as fluid as, say, Arkham.
