@Talk2Luke Yeah, that's true - same reason Daikatana was every bit as good as Doom; The Old Republic is every bit as good as World of Warcraft.

OH WAIT.

@Techn1c4l Didn't Activision, not long ago, come up as the #1 Worst Company in the minds of consumers, according to some survey or study? Not worst video game company, but worst COMPANY - i.e., worse than Halliburton, et al.

I second the motion for a remake of FF3. In fact if they did that, it could easily surpass 7 in terms of quality and sales - if done right - then they could do the remake of ff7 once consumer tech got far enough to let them make it meaningful. as it is right now, ff7 can be played on a modern pc with very high resolution models and heavily antialiased textures, which looks pretty appealing even by today's standards (Which, admit it, include TONS of 'throwaway' art done, albeit in attractive styles, for indie games).

Hahaha, Blizzard was a great company and made their best products with Vivendi; Activision comes into the mix and it goes from world's least desirable franchise. GG activision, you ruined arguably the best thing to ever happen to PC Gaming.

@Yagami-san It would not surprise me, although I don't think it's necessary. Years of balancing and rebalancing WoW has given them some pretty sophisticated understanding of how to manipulate a system like this, so just taking a cut of the sales and relying on the extreme rarity of GOOD items might be enough. Then again, they could make the game 'easier' for everyone like a pay-to-play MMO does, which is basically what they're doing. Diablo 3 is a lot like Maple Story I guess.

Luckily, a large number of people have ALWAYS been unsatisfied with the Diablo franchise, and Blizzard keeps making them. Diablo 1 was received with some apprehension in its day, many critics used its inventory system and ultra-simplified play style as primary weaknesses. I believe it received some flak over its graphics engine too, but nowhere near as much as did Diablo 2. Diablo 2 was given a lukewarm reception even by diehard Diablo fans, as it threw many aspects of the tried-and-true formula to the wind.

And here we are over a decade later, getting the third reinvention of the same brilliant game, and people are whining about the exact same things. Except now that most people have broadband, and they decided battle.net (the method many if not most people used to play the previous games) would be the ONLY way to play, it went from being one of the things people loved the most about the game to something people love to complain about.

@Legrieme The Truth of Gaming: Every game designer wishes they could be the one to make a game like Diablo. The truth of the entire world: Business is a cutthroat thing, as are all human endeavors, and communism has never been shown to be an egalitarian form of government. So give it a rest with your ridiculous avatar, unless you are in fact a member of the communist party in a country where that is actually considered desirable.

@Shanks_D_Chop what, like when a new car comes out but the dealerships are too crowded with demanding patrons and there aren't enough cars to go around, then a few people get into accidents trying to back their new cars out of the dealer lot at the same time? if that happened, would you really blame the car company?
