Withthe massive disappoitment that is Sup Com 2, do any other PC RTS gamers think we are going through the death of the PC RTS?
I mean, RTS games now are made for the Console's 1st and PC second, which means they are dumbed down, worthless piles of simple pants. Gone is the complexity, gone are the groundbreaking graphics.
The companies that specialised in RTS games have gone bankrupt as they refused to break in the face of the Console menace.
Westwood Studios, founder of the C&C games, went bankrupt,
Cavedog has gone, Lionhead studios is on its last legs,
Gas Powered Games is under the iron fist of the Japanese monster that is Square Enix and other tyrannical publishers, so dont expect a decent game from them again. EVER.
And finally,to round off the all star cast of game-series-that-are-royally-F**KED, there is the Total War series. Now, i think Steam/Valve had a lot to do with this, but Empire Total War was abysmal performance wise, unlike its predecessors . The Gameplay was extremely enjoyable but performance is down the drain. Napoleon:TW isnt much better.
I just wish things would go back to the way they were before, games with the best graphics, build SOLELY for the PC, with Paradox Interactive/Entertainments HUGE depth and the fatastic (and dont forget HUGE) 3D battles of the Original Supreme Commander and Supreme Commander Forged Alliance.
I dont know if its 1) the sea of greedy publishers out there 2)the Devs not careing or 3) console are finally taking over (although i think its all the fault of the greedy idiots that dare to call themselves publishers (option 1)) but the RTS genre (or should i call it RTT (real time tactics)) is dying a slow, painful death.
Yet another thing we can blame the mouth-breathing console tards for.....
