@darkheath: OK... so I said "I don't mind the overly cliche'd story so much", but now I've finished it and WOW, did it ever get so silly at the end! Testosterone squirting all OVER my TV set. Oh yeah... and finding ONE SINGLE person in all of the Holocaust... seconds before he was to be shot. Yeah, I'm sure that was easy.

^^^ I put that in a spoiler block... but it ain't like no one saw it coming from miles away.

@Kisalon: I'm not so sure if it was "paid for" or if this Concepcion fellow is just a total CoD nerd and he's probably one of these guys who can rack up 40-50 kills in an 8 minute session.

While I'm enjoying my time in the game, this certainly does not deserve a "9". I bought this simply because I've been enamored with all things WWII since I was a kid. But CoD has one horribly bad design choice that goes back to the original games and they haven't fixed it yet, the ENDLESS SPAWNING in single player. I don't know if this is just a "feature" of the harder level (I play on the 3rd of 4 difficulty levels), but if so, ENDLESS SPAWNING is a lame way of increasing difficulty. It basically gives you only ONE choice as to how to play the game, that is: rush forward in a hail of bullets until you hit the imaginary check point to stop the spawns.

I can't believe this doesn't annoy any one else. Battlefield doesn't do this. In that game you can play defensively, stealthy, find ways to flank, or... if you want, run and gun into a hail of bullets should you want. CoD gives you no options. I first noticed this in CoD 4: Modern Warfare. While I liked that game and really enjoyed the story, the mission at the TV station was ridiculous. I could not BELIEVE how many fools were in that one office! I kept shooting and killing and shooting and killing until finally I stopped and checked online to find I needed to somehow scoot through the room, amongst all of the fragile cubicles, to reach some "magic" spot at the far side before they would stop. Seriously, if I had not read that, I would STILL be killing MFers in that room, now... 10 years later!

My point is, this "game design choice" is simply put in to give an artificial sense of chaos. And that's exactly what it is... artificial. No matter how compelling your story may be, as soon as you get to one of those spawning moments, you're pulled out of any immersion and you're like, "oh yeah... I'm playing a stupid video game. May as well be shooting ducks at the county fair". CoD will never be as good as BF until they at least get rid of that nonsense.

That said, I don't mind the overly cliche'd story so much... but the incredibly silly set pieces, like the train and the bell tower that's been mentioned, is my other main annoyance. Oh... and being as this is my 1st CoD I tried any multiplayer, I was quite surprised it's limited to only 12 people. Really? I thought MP was CoD's big THING! BF is EPIC by comparison with 64.

@Elranzer: I seriously didn't hate the Corbin film. Yes, the effects were a bit lame, but the interaction/dynamic between Vic Doom and Reed Richards was done nicely. I, for one, don't give a damn about effects/CGI usually as long as the story is good and makes sense.

@joalopes: I seriously wish they would "remaster" the 1st Witcher game to be playable with controllers. I really couldn't get very far into the game because of how unwieldy the controls were. And that was very disappointing because I could see that there was a fantastic game in there somewhere.

The change-log on this patch is incredible. A year later and CDPR is releasing more in their 20th patch than most developers release in their first. The inventory system needed an intuitive overhaul and it looks like they realized it. I feel I'll be spending the first hour or so after installing this just playing around in my inventory.

Anyway, just wanted to say that the love this company has shown for this game and their customers has truly made any future releases from CDPR a full price, must-buy from me (and more than likely the Collector's Edition). These guys deserve it.

I'm annoyed that the main character looks like Peter Steele from Type O Negative. He only wanted to die himself. To have really done this "right", the main guy should have just been some ordinary-looking nut job.

@teethofthesea I've never played any of the GTA games like that. I've pretty much only played them for the stories.

"Story has some great moments and makes good use of characters" <<< This alone tells me it's worth more than a 6... unless gameplay is absolutely broken, which it sounds like it's not.
