Gamespot didn't hand out the technically proficient graphics emblem to MW2, really? :?Stevo_the_gamer

I also think it's really strange. It has one of, if not the most technically proficient graphics for a multiplat.

She responded there is no right religion. It's just all faith. But other kids gave me that look and questioned why I would ask that. I just told them I was curious.

MrGeezer

Dude, you should have followed up with a "How do you know that they are all myths? How is it that you know none of them are right?" It would have been an entertaining discussion to say the least...

In all fairness, whenever I sit down in a classroom, I'm there to learn the material. I don't have any inherent problems with this kind of discussion particularly if it's the PROFESSOR who takes time out of the lesson to initiate this kind of discussion. In that case, the discussion is part of the lesson.

But when the professor is trying to teach the material, and then a fellow STUDENT pipes up and causes that kind of distraction from the material, it sort of irks me as a student.

I've been out of school for YEARS. Just recently FINALLY went back to school, and just ended up taking one BS pointless class just sort of to get me back into the whole academic atmosphere. A couple of weeks ago, I'm sitting in the classroom, and there's this one girl who CONSTANTLY has to say SOMETHING in response to any of the professor's comments. Then other people start to give their two cents, the whole room devolves into a real-world equivalent of a Gamespot OT discussion, and WAY too much time is lost on this kind of BS because the professor is too much of a timid sissy to foot her foot down and regain control of the classroom.

And the whole time, I'm just sitting there shaking my head thinking, "oh god, no." I am not paying money for that ****. If I wanted to spend my time on that kind of discussion, I could have gotten it on Gamespot for freaking FREE. Will those people PLEASE just STFU and let the professor continue with the lesson?

There's a time and a place. I BARELY even consider myself as a student, since it's only one course, and pretty much a completely BS and pointless course at that. But STILL. Just shut the hell up and stop distracting from the damn lesson. Do these questions really NEED to be asked? If the professor describes ancient religion as "mythology", and if you have a problem with that, is it REALLY worth bringing the lesson to a freaking halt simply to discuss something that you could've waited and then brought up again on Gamespot?

I'm all for entertaining and interesting discussions, but PLEASE keep them in their appropriate places.

Having been subject to countless ridiculously off-topic discussions during classes in my life, I agree that these sorts of questions can certainly waste peoples' time. That being said, in this instance the instructor's comments begged for questions. If the instructor thinks that the discussion is getting out of hand, it is up to them to move on. I also think that is worth mentioning that I often find that asking questions in class to lead to a more meaningful answer/discussion than doing so on the internet. Then again, I haven't been here long. I might end up being pleasantly surprised.

[QUOTE="Serraph105"][QUOTE="Ikouze"]

Today I was in class and my teacher was talking about Native American religions and Greek religions. She said how they were all myths and talking about a spirtual world and there was no proof of it's existance so therefore it was a myth and not true. So I raised my hand and asked, isn't that the same thing with Christanaity? We have no real evidence that it even exists. Christanity talks about the same thing basically, but in a diffrent way. So isn't it wrong to classify other religions as myths when ours could possibly be one? How do we know what is the "right" religion? Maybe there is no religion at all and it's just our imagination or something man came up with to control other people. What's up with this?

I want to know how your teacher responded.

Well, obviously invading Iraq was a horrendous idea. That doesn't mean you can just pack up and leave once this is realized, and leave the country in a state of civil war.

I borrowed the game from a friend, and like a lot of other people, I just found the game to be really boring. I don't know if it was supposed to get better, but the first three hours just sucked. Glad I didn't waste my money on it.

Where's the "both" button? Or is this one of those "if you had a gun pointed to your head and could only pick one" scenarios?

My God this is one of the dumbest topics I have ever stumbled across....

First off, the acting is good. Edward Norton ALWAYS does a fantastic job in anything he does.

Secondly, just because you couldn't actually get the real message out of the movie doesn't mean it isn't there TC. You are the only person I have come across who didn't understand the movie at all.

The whole point of the movie is to show how racism and hate do nothing but fuel a fire of violence and ignorance. They do this through Norton's character as a reformed Neo-Nazi. He ends up realizing that his hate had gotten him nothing when he gets attacked in jail and has no one to help him. Then after giving a black man a chance he ends up developing a friendship and starts realzing how stupid his hate had been in regards to where it has gotten him: In jail with almost no friends.

Of course his goal after getting out is to rectify his mistakes by trying to bring his family away from the neo-nazi group and de-brainwashing his little brother who had become filled with hate thanks to him. Norton's relationship with his little brother is incredibly important for the anti-racism message as you get to see him talk his brother out of his hate-filled way.

This leads to the other message of the story that others have already mentioned which is "be careful what you do for your actions can come back to haunt you." While Norton had time to go about trying to rectify his mistakes, his brother didn't get the same chance which in a sense could be ANOTHER message in the movie, that there aren't always second chances.

This post beautifully sums up my thoughts on the discussion. Props to LostProphetFLCL.

I find this news to be rather unfortunate. The policy of requiring individuals to purchase health insurance or face ridiculous penalties, is rather troubling to me. I hope that this part of the legislation is changed.

[QUOTE="Free_Marxet"][QUOTE="coolbeans90"][QUOTE="Free_Marxet"] Even though it does in many other countries? America has a huge crime rate, and is one of the only western industrialized countries WITH the death penalty. Its time to get over it, it doesnt work.

The death penalty isn't necessarily what causes the U.S. to have a higher crime rate. There are many of differences in between the U.S. and other western nations. For instance, gun control is much stricter in many of those other nations than in the U.S.

im telling him that the death penalty never stopped crime and that nations without it manage to have low crime

Well, I seriously disagree with the point that it has never stopped crime. I think that it is a very powerful deterrent. While I do not speak for the whole of society, nothing frightens me more than death. Nevertheless, countries have managed to do very well without it. For the most part, I am rather indifferent on the issue. Then again, I haven't read much regarding the effectiveness of the death penalty.

[QUOTE="GrandJury"]Once again I shall say it again. I support the dealth penalty. I would love to see the crime rate in America go down but I highly doubt getting rid of the death penalty will make that happen.Free_Marxet
