Because any veteran will tell you clicking mouses and controllers can prepare you for real blood, real death, real recoil of a gun, and real reactions of taking the life of a human being.

The key word there is -deranged-. If he had never played a video game (which is far from the only media to show, much less 'glorify', violence) he would still be deranged. And the other 99% of games would still be normal, well adjusted members of society, because a mere video game does not tell a normal and sane person "Gee, this is fun, I think I'm going to go out and BUY A GUN (other key word) and shoot real people", nor does tapping a controller or a mouse even nearly simulate the actual experience of firing a real gun at a real person.

But unfortunately we don't have a video game lobbying organization so the NRA gets to decide what Congress should do. Yay America..

People were killing people before video games, it just got easier when any random mentally deranged schmuck can buy an automatic weapon from Wal-mart.

@Dexter765 The issue is that quality isn't a necessary trait to ensure big sales from a yearly franchise, as Call of Duty and Battlefield can show us.

Thank god the industry still has people like Ken Levine who actually care about quality as much as sales.

@JayQproductions @commando1992 @danielcliment Consider that the Avengers (and many other superhero movies, not just super-gritty Dark Knight) are PG-13, while five out of six Star Wars movies are PG (and the latter being PG-13 only because Anakin kills a bunch of children offscreen). And there's the Clone Wars TV show on Cartoon Network, which is marketed for older children, but still definitely children. Sure it's violent, but it's clean, bloodless, laser gun and lightsaber science fiction violence, which is a far cry from Call of Duty or most violent games. There hasn't even been a Star Wars game with an M rating so far, with only the possibility that 1313 will be M.

@danielcliment @JayQproductions Because they're definitely going to cut back on violence in the next Avengers movie. (Not all of Disney is Mickey Mouse and the Jonas brothers.)

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to READ THE RATING. Parents have no one to blame but themselves for not understanding exactly what sort of mature content comes in games, when it is clearly depicted on each and every game sold.

Now all we need is a funny meme about EA abusing the crap out of the proverbial cow's udder that is gamers. Preferably with a little old Eastern woman saying a proverb about how you're not supposed to milk the poor cow till he's dry, much less treat the poor guy like you're a vampire.
