@dmastor @Renegade_Garrus and apple has always been way overpriced. not a good comparison. really the only comparison that needs be considered is the value proposition of the Xbox nearest competitor the ps4. when looked at in that way the xbox is not a very good value. especially when you consider that much of the cost of the system is subsidized by the games the owner will purchase during the systems lifetime.
@bignick217 if I remember correctly most of the time an old system simply wouldn't address the total volume of a high capacity drive. you could make it work but you had to throw away a certain amount of its capacity.
@bignick217 @cid67 yes I know what video ram is stop popping off your mouth. Your not thinking clearly here. since the Durango is also rumored to use an AMD apu there is only going to be one shared pool of ram there's not going to be vram per say unless you count the 32mb of esram as vram.
@bignick217 @samueljeon let me enlighten you. since the chip in the ps3 is an APU that has the CPU and GPU on one chip it makes sense to use ddr5 ram. if you used ddr3 it would bottleneck the graphics side of that chip beyond what current dedicated GPUs are and that doesn't make good sense if your building a gaming machine. the ram in ps4 is one shared pool it doesn't segregate it based on video or system.
to say an amd APU cant work with ddr5 is to assume you know what kind of customizations amd is accommodating for Sony besides i always thought it was the Chip set that determined what kind of ram was used not the processor per say. just because no off the shelf PC motherboards are currently using ddr5 as system ram doesn't mean it wont soon. tech is always advancing and not too long ago ddr3 was only available on graphics cards. its not like Sonys releasing the ps4 today. by the time it does release im willing to bet the industry will be well on there way if not already providing ddr5 as an option for system ram.

@CP2077 @xolivierx they said at the ps4 event that this footage was rendering in real time on the ps4. giving us an idea what in game graphics will likely look like.
@unreal101 @Royial20 or you could put your ps3 game in the ps4 drive and the ps4 recognizes the game and begins streaming it form the cloud for you to play.
Is everyone just speculating that this is a touch pad like the rear of the vita or is there the possibility that this is a actual display. if it was a touch screen display than I could see it being a great way to add custom buttons to the controller on a game by game basis. that would be cool without being too much like the wiiu. its just about the right size for that purpose too.
why do we always argue game play vs graphics fidelity. cant we just come together and agree that both are equally important to a good interactive entertainment experience. I will say that there is plenty of room for improvement in both arenas and to focus on one and not the other is doing yourself and the medium a disservice. I for one expect a notable improvement across the gamut if the developers and hardware creators want my hard earned dollars and I would actually be willing to pay a small amount more per game to assure I get that experience. I think the whole industry needs a revolution to get us to a healthy place for gaming growth but that's for another conversation.
