Anybody that complains about lack of sneaking in this game needs to stop gaming. It is the best hack n slash since Ninja Gaiden imo. and I love that mg can branch out to other genres
Can understand Tom's complaints about one dimensional characters. In the early going Joel and Tess are just callous, with the only bit of difference being a note from tess regarding a bottle of liquor, "this is for us, Joel". But I can understand it from the dev view as well. Its a harsh existence and it can make people a bit callous. My complaints that were immersion breakers for me were picking up ammo from infected but not military I was just in a shootout with? Tess and Joel took the quest to deliver Ellie so they could get weapons back? If guns didnt magically disappear after I killed somerone using them I wouldnt need this job. And a clicker literally walked right into Ellie and nothing happened. Is this the sixth sense? In a game that stresses story and characters, the plot hole about weapons is a biggie for me. All told, a great game. 8.5 imo
the idea may be morphing Phil, but the definition hasn't changed. If I pay someone money to BUY something, I then take ownership of it. That means it is mine to do with as I please. RENTING is closer to what you folks are describing, and that shouldn't cost me $60 a game.
sounds good to me so far. Always loved gears, like the sound of the mp and classified missions. Just got it on dinner break but got 24 hour guard duty so gotta wait til tomorrow after relief takes over.
As far as gripping the user and drawing them into the character's lives, play the entire MGS saga. I believe it is a storytelling medium. We complicate things with our analysis of life. Now for some, it isn't a storytelling medium, that's fine. But if I play MGS 4 or Halo 3, I pay attention to the cutscenes. I pay attention to in game narrative. For me it heightens the immersion. If it tells a story, then it tells a story. You ever see the deaf sign to each other? So because they don't relate their stories to eachother verbally, they don't count as stories? A different method does not negate the fact that a story is being told.
I also prefer the darker grittier Gears 1 look. But it is funny how many times I've seen posts saying "Gears colors suck, everything is just dark grey." Now in the second Epic has added more light and color but some people still don't like it.
That's funny almost every game for 360 I own says in plain english on the back of the box, 720p, 1080p. My PS3 games say it also, but to say the 360 can't run in 1080 is either an outright lie or you don't own a 360.
