@NightDrifter05 You're right. Human beings have a violent nature and getting it out in games may have been helping crimes rates go down while no one is making the connection.

@Albelnox0 No one wants game developers gone. We simply aren't afraid to voice our opinions about their products. And trust me they respect us for it. If we didn't complain, that would be the bad news cause it would mean that we didn't care about games anymore.

Although I have no kids, I was truly devastated to read about the Sandy Hook massacre. I think anyone whose heart still pumps blood should've felt something for those poor children and hatred toward the gunman, but I have to say : I think the maniac would've done what he did regardless of whether he was a gamer or not.

@horizonwriter I agree ; DS3 is definitely a horror game first, action game second. Admittedly, you do make good logical foundations for the flow of direction the series has taken with this release. However, I maintain that some of the more gripping story elements and ideas presented in both DS1 & 2 would have infused into DS3 perfectly, without seeming out of place.

Despite much focus on weaponry & action, as well as the slightly off-rail horror not being able to match that of the first two games, DS3 remains an enjoyable & bone-chilling experience. It will be interesting to see how the story carries on from this point.

I hope you're around for the next critiquing session, horizon.

@horizonwriter I'm aware. I've played DS3 myself so I know exactly what you're talking about. This 3rd game is actually in my opinion the most challenging and you're right that the enemies crowd you, push you into a corner, scare you, intimidate you and keep your head on a swivel. But I still think it lost some of the more psychologically disturbing aspects that can be recalled from the 1st and 2nd games.

Basically, Dead Space 3 is like the movie that scares you with monsters while the first 2 are more like the movie that scares you with monsters AND tries to mess with your head. The "messing with your head" aspect is largely gone now, in favor of a kill 'em all style necro fest with mild bits of plot in the backdrop.

There are, without a doubt, far less scary story-driven moments in Dead Space 3. Think about how the story of Isaac's dead wife haunting him played such a large part of the sheer horror in both Dead Space 1 & 2. Also, recall the experience of arriving to save a crew only to discover that everyone is infact dead. In Dead Space 3, you hardly get a sense of what story is being told - which we gather is mainly that the home planet of the Marker has been found and we must investigate! Not very driven.

We also get barely a sense of character story from Isaac's current life compared to what we got in the first two games. In the first game, we met his wife, and in the second, we discovered her ill fate and even had to engage battle with her scary possessed form. This is all part of the horror experience. What do we get about Isaac as a character in Dead Space 3? Well, basically that he dated some hot British space marine chick who is now hooking up with the Sarge ...... that's hardly enough story to captivate anyone.

Funny how Isaac doesn't say a word in Dead Space 1, yet I can relate to him more in that game than I can relate to him in DS3 even though he talks constantly.

Random psycho-targeted scary moments are also toned down : just remember the scene in Dead Space 1 where a member of the crew they were there to rescue is so possessed by the events she slices her own throat and drops dead right infront of you. It's moments like that they're referring to when they speak of toning down the horror in favor of action, not the monsters - you can't have a Dead Space game without those. That scene from the intro of DS3 where [SPOILER] the military general blows his own cadet's brains out is, IMO, not scary, just gory action.

Lastly, this Dead Space does actually put a lot of the emphasis on weapons, team work, and co-operation play. Nothing is wrong such changes, but it does subtract from the horror aspects a bit more. So it's not just a perception of more focus on action, but more actual focus on action indeed when compared to the two games.

@DiamondSlicer I really hope it does well. I like the setting and the character and story. I think I myself will enjoy it but I want everyone else to enjoy it as well. We should give it a chance and I hope it does get a good score.

I can see it already :

Day : June 2, 2013

Gamespot Score for Remember Me : 5.5

I hope I am wrong because we need more futuristic sci-fi games with sandbox elements like this, male or female.

@kayos539I respect your opinion and get your points, however it would seem you imply that only female writers are capable of piecing a story that will win big with the female crowd. There may be some truth to that, not sure but in any case : just like the industry needs to "grow up", a certain portion of the public must also grow up and realize that sex appeal is inevitable unless you want nuns running around wielding guns!

@kayos539 He's not trying to rile anyone up please stay on topic cause flaming doesn't help anything. He has good points which are basically this :

1. According to movie-goer rates, the majority of women prefer a story about a female protagonist who is more feminine like your average girl, and less badass like a female ninja.

2. Again, according to move ticket sales, most fans of "bad ass" female characters such as the protagonists from Underworld and Resident Evil are male.

3. Sex sells. I don't think we even need to argue that one.

Conclusion : Sexiness + badassness = something a male gamer will probably like.
