FF16 is an action RPG? Not interested.

I dunno why each new installment has to essentially reinvent itself, lately. I know this has always been a thing for the series to some degree, but the first 10 games all played largely the same at its core. Even so, each installment still had gameplay elements that differentiated themselves from each other.

The modern titles, however, are so alien from even their direct predecessor that I often wonder if they should be a completely separate franchise.

@christhunder34: From a big name company like this, it can be just about anything really: Executive meddling. Insufficient testing. Overconfidence. Poor management. Any combination of the mentioned and then some even.

There are no excuses for AAA companies to be producing such garbage in this day and age, especially with all the hype they've generated and the time it took overall to even release it. It's the whole 'Sonic 2006/Duke Nukem Forever' disaster all over again.

At this point, I think even indie devs could have produced a much more polished gameplay engine in only a fraction of the time it took to produce cp2077. They really dropped the ball here.

This is going to take a lot of goodwill on their end to fix. Assuming the company doesn't implode from the backlash that is.

Just demonstrates the pitfalls of overhype and crunch production.

@Blk_Mage_Ctype: I personally hope it's not just another Kanto/genwunner focused game.

I'm hoping it has a FFX styled turn system, but either way it's great that it's coming to Swtich, it's one of the best platforms for RPGs.

@jasoncourt: If you buy both, or a PC and a Playstation, it isn't an issue. I don't know where "gamers" get off thinking they are entitled to play every available game on a single platform. It has never ever been that way, going back to Atari and Intellevision and Colecovision. Sure there has been more hegemony over the last generation because the architectures were so similar, and that is going to continue. But why people expect the doing away of exclusives.... it has never worked that way and there are very clear advantages to having exclusives, and I think it helps competition and pushes the medium further.

Or why no one complains about Nintendo still adhering to their own platform exclusivity model.

That's more due to Nintendo's strong 1st party (and 2nd party) titles and their own (unique) hardware often working in tandem with each other in varying degrees (which can't easily be replicated on other platforms).

This has been Nintendo's whole niche for the past few console generations, and it's ultimately why they've been able to get away with their exclusivity model this whole time.

Sony and MS main issue is the fact that they share the same audience and genres between themselves and the PC platform, with little to differentiate each other other than brand name and a couple key exclusives.

I think MS and Sony would eventually have to start creating appealing gaming hardware niches themselves if they to stop people from wanting their exclusives on their competitor's platform. It doesn't necessarily have to be on the level of Nintendo, just enough that gamers feel they can only get the specific gaming experience if they buy their platform and not a PC.

I miss the old Club Nintendo rewards program. It had some really good stuff for its members, such as console accessories, great merch, and even freebie 'virtual console' games such as Mario Party 2, Zelda Majora's Mask, or Donkey Kong '94.

MyNintendo doesn't come close to that.

That's good to know, I remember many players were upset when the NDS online servers shuttered only a few years ago.
