This gen isnt so well balanced. I dont think the games that came out on the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and PSP could balance the disasters of Wii and DS.

Last gen, and the gen before it had plenty of great games on all systems.

I hope it doesnt ruin it even more. The DS killed handheld games. Gameboy and PSP have the real games, unlike the DS that has mainly lame-ass games half of which make use of touch gimmick

These are just on the systems I own -

PC - Starcraft - a legendary game that I keep coming back to even now. I've been playing this since I was 8 when it came out.

PS - FF7 - great story, probably the most enjoyable single player game i've experienced

N64 - Super Smash Bros - I used to kick ass at this game. It was a fun as hell game and a new concept.

Gamecube - Rouge Leader - I am a starwars fanatic and this was not only a starwars game, but a great game in its own rights

Xbox - Halo - I was the king of this game, and it was a great shooter that set the new bar for shooters, one of the influencial shooters like goldeneye and doom were.

PS2 - Twisted Metal Black - I grew up with twisted metal and have played all of them - and this is the best of them all

Gameboy - Pokemon Silver/Pokemon Red - I and my friends played these games all day.

DS - Pokemon - DS games for the most part blow but the one of few exceptions is Pokemon. Even if most of the pokemon games are pretty much similar, the tried and true formula is still good.

PSP - Tie between any of the Monster Hunters and Wipeout Pure - I love challenging games, and these are among the top of the list in terms of challenge.

Xbox 360 - Fable II - Although not a spectacular game, the other 360 games i have for the most part are lackluster. I was disappointed in Halo 3 and Mass Effect. the only other decent game was Gears of War.

PS3 - Wipeout HD (so far Demon's Souls is pretty good but it's not as hard as i hoped).

Wii - Super Smash Bros. - Due to Wii's abysmal games, I obviously pick Brawl, the one game that didn't let me down on the Wii

I finally got the game and I am disappointed in its difficulty. Although harder than average, this game so far seems like a cakewalk compared to wipeout HD on elite mode.

I was wondering what you all think the hardest game this gen is. I am looking for a good, challenging game So far for me it was Wipeout HD, ridiculously hard to conquer that game. I also played Armored Core 4 and the Ninja Gaidens. So what game should i try for a good challenge? I was thinking about Demon's Souls, but that game seems more about challenge in trial and error rather than reflexes.

"I haven't played Demon's Souls yet."

/thread.

Sit back and accept it as a great RPG and a AAAE title.

I am not bashing it at all, i am a monster hunter fan and hope that Demon's Souls is a great game as i will buy it when pain in the ass med school slows down

You can't have a valid opinion of a game you haven't played. I understand what you're trying to say, but just play it and remake this thread if you feel it's necessary.

Well, first of all, there are situations in which you can have valid opinions of games without playing it (if a game has aspects against your moral beliefs you can already not like it without even playing it) - not saying it applies here really, but i'm just saying it isn't impossible. Second, I never claimed i had a "valid" opinion (kinda oxymoron). And last I understand what you are trying to say too, but based on the reviews of the two games, gamefaqs (in my opinion) shoulda given them a little mroe equal scores. They listed the similar aspects in both reviews. Only thing gamespot described monster hunter of more of a tedious game, while Demon's Souls was described like a game that was challenging in it its trial-and-error (I can see that as a euphamism as tedious).

Hmmmm, I think i might have been a bit unclear in my first post. i was just wondering how two games that SEEM (maybe they are not?) very similar to each other and that even have some of the same flaws (bad targeting and camera) got hugely different scores. I personally love Monster Hunter and Demon's Souls looks like a really good game as well.

The Monster Hunter game for psp got no higher than a 7 from gamespot. I haven't played Demon's Souls yet, but from the looks of other people playing it, it looks almost too similar to a Monster Hunter game - everything from the basic melee combat to clearing areas with large bosses in each one, to the challenging nature of the game. I mean sure Demon's Souls has at least some story, but im sure it's not the main point of the game.

Anyways, if this question seems ridiculous then please be merciful, i admit that i am making some assumptions here xD

I personally prefer user reviews/reviews like these that are from smaller sites than those from more mainstream sources. First of all, these are opinionated reviews and can therefore possibly mean nothing due to the fact that there are different perceptions on what makes a game "good". This also means that "credibility" doesn't mean much either, as credibility applies to factual matters. Second, even though there is no direct proof, small sites like these are possibly under less scrutiny from outside factors in their reviews.
