"Phenomenal growth" compared to the absolutely abysmal sales that Xbox hardware has had in Japan previously. The week that the Series S and X launched, Famitsu was reporting that the XB1 S and X had only sold around 20000 units each in Japan up until that point. By comparison, the most recent numbers for the Series S and X have them at 12000 and 34000 units sold in Japan (respectively).
So, technically speaking, it is pretty impressive growth. The problem, however, is that growth is compared against the fact that last gen Xbox consoles probably didn't crack 50000 units sold throughout the entirety of the last 7 or so years.
That seems unlikely, given that Dreams was literally an Early Access game when it was first released on the Playstation. Odds are that they removed it because they didn't like CDPR sending angry customers to them for refunds.
I'm gonna need to see an in-depth review of the retail version. Right now, it doesn't look it would compare well to the Index when you take the price into account ($1000 for the full Index kit vs. $1400 for the Vive Pro 2 full kit).
